Talented but troubled guard Stephon Marbury, however, has played his last day in a Knicks uniform, according to an NBA source.

I like this part:
But the future of the franchise is building around Gallinari, a rookie from Italy selected sixth overall in the June draft. The well-rounded 6-foot-10-inch, 210-pounder has superstar written all over him. He has the Broadway Joe looks and could end up being the 2009 Rookie of the Year. Yes, over Portland's Greg Oden, Chicago's Derrick Rose, Miami's Michael Beasley, and Memphis's O.J. Mayo.

Like to speak to the "NBA source" who gave him the the Marbury info. He did speak to D'Antoni and Walsh, though, and they are part of the "NBA," so I expect that one of them gave him the info.

The Gallinari rookie of the year comment was strange/interesting, though. On what basis does he make that speculation?

Hope he is right, though.

Gallinari rookie of the year is not a stretch......but the kid would need some minutes......like starters minutes and he can't get them as currently contructed. I believe with OJ Mayo a little streaky, and Love being paired with Al jefferson, and oden not really an offensive threat coming off knee surgery, rose looking as lost as conley did his rookie year, and Beasley being kind of a jerk.........Gallinari could seriously get rookie of the year or at least get on that first team.

Lmao......

As a knick fan, I just hope we are rebuilding...A friend of mine told me this a long time ago and it stuck...U never know how bad a player is until he plays for your team...Chris Duhan is that player...This is Charlie Ward all over again, a touch better defender...Now we are also ready to build the franchise around a number six pick who has never played ball on American soil...I hope this new regime has a long term plan...Their short term plan leaves a lot to be desired...Then again, they met this franchise in a mess that can't be fix overnight...We need patients to see what they can do...I have to admit, after the last seven years, my patients is running short...

I think the NBA source might be simply giving his opinion.

Not if the "source" is Walsh or D'Antoni, who actually have the power to back up the comment.

I still don't understand the obsession with Duhon as an interim pick up. What is the problem with adding a defender, low TO, steady hand and a guy who is a pass 1st PG? This should be the last thing anyone has a problem with.

Once again I feel I have to defend the pick of Gallo. For one thing we are NOT building the franchise around Gallo!!! At least not from what Waltoni have been saying about cap space for 2010. I would venture a guess that the player we look to get with that cap space will be the one we're building around.

Doesn't the fact that they're already looking 3 yrs down the road suggest that they have a long term plan!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN!

You can't have any shortage of patience and be a fan of a professional team. Fan support should be eternal and I think this is the best shot we've had to build something good in the last 7 years. Could we have hoped to get two more capable men than Walsh and D'Antoni with the circus this franchise has been?

Maybe they meant sauce.......as in he was eating taco bell and accidently dripped sauce into his PS3 console......so he played his last day as his favorite team the Knicks, on NBA Live.

could be that. it could be tattoo ink too. but maybe more of an attempt by ainge's reporters to get marbs for little to nothing.....which actually is just fine by me.

I'm with you on the Duhon thing. I odn't understand what the issue is with him. If he stinks then he's a pass first, defensive back-up PG so what is the problem. He is not the PG of the future, he's here to serve a short term purpose. If he shines and plays above his head then he will turn out to be a solid back up for some future PG.
I just hope that people will like me

Cosign this. And we have to remember Duhon was probably a contingency plan to boot. We were supposed to end up with Gallo and Mayo(if we got Mayo, we never would have signed Duhon, IMO) in the draft.
