Looks like very popular thread...
I think the Georgia-Russia war made Olympics irrelevant for some time.

Always enjoy watching the beach volleyball and swimming.
Phelps, after going into 'cruise control' as the announcers kept remarking, still sets an Olympic record for the 400 M. Finals live tonight at 8.

Not for us unfortunately. We need to play full court press all game. China has very poor ball handling

Despite having to install that new Microsoft program (Silverlight) I'm watching the replay of the USA-China match now and it looks great. I haven't tried the multiple windows of live action yet, but will soon.

Interesting how their is no audio commentary, it's as if you are actually in the arena.

As for the game thus far, team USA looks pretty much unstoppable on offense, but they need to hit their 3's against the top teams. I caught a but of Litunania and Argentina early this AM, and was surprised at Argentina's performance.

Fact Of The Day: Did you know that the Beijing Olympic stadium was designed by Albert Speer, Jr?

Albert Speer, Jr has had some serious architectural successes to his name most recently being Expo 2000 and the Shangai International Automobile City. Maybe it is just me, but does anyone else find it curious that he is the son of Albert Speer who was Adolf Hitler's chief architect? Albert Speer Sr was sentenced to 20 years in prison and was released from prison in 1966. He died in 1981. 3 years later...........his son forms his own company Buro Albert Speer & Partner and more importantly, between father and son, they have now done some extensive work for 2 countries that have openly been anti-American and anti-British.

The senior Speer was responsible for Germany's architectural "renaissance" after Allied bombings and the junior Speer's success might just get him a military deal with the Chinese government like his dad did with Hitler.

the opening ceremony was freakin' unbelievable... all the awesome sights & colors... maybe i'll watch it again on DVR after taking some shrooms... that oughta be a trip & a half.

so far the highlight of competition was definitely the 4-man freestyle relay... that was 1 helluva exciting finish... too bad no Tae Kwon Do is being televised, i wanna see someone get knocked the fug out

it wasn't all fake... some of the firewords sequences were filmed prior & edited into the telecast to my understanding... regardless, it's still very impressive what they were able to pull off... the awesome drummers, the tai chi martial artists & the dudes that were doing that rolling box sculpture were an awesome sight to witness.

I didn't realize Chris Kaman is playing for Germany. Pretty cool. Apparently his great grandparents were German, and he got citizenship recently.
