1) He has played over seas against better com then Dodo when he was in college.

2) Arroyo is a proven scorer and equally staunch on defense and uptempo experience.

3) A cheaper price tag

Duhon when to Duke and has a tag on him.....he's a good player yeah....but not worth 6 mil per.

Arroyo should have been signed for that same amount for 2 years. He woulda came to NY if they came knockin. He knows he would become an even bigger puerto rican superstar.

Anyway......signing him would allow the Knicks to sign another player if need be.....then sign and trade for others......or maybe trade balkman for a player.....

Duhon signed for 2 years.....ok is he a stop gap? Kinda expensive. High charecter guys, rebuild the culture of the team......yeah yeah I hear ya I hear ya......

to be honest i'd rather have Duhon at $12 mil over 2 years than Arroyo for $7 mil over 3... if we coulda signed Arroyo to a 2 year deal at $7 mil i would preferred that over Duhon's signing... regardless, Duhon's not gonna screw our cap situation at all & he does play defense, something Arroyo's not known for... i think Arroyo may have been a better fit for a run & gun style game but whatever... not a big deal either way.

Arroyo blows. Do you really want a PG who's made his way into 3 consecutive coaches' dog house? The guy doesn't play with discipline.

yeah he's obviously got his shortcomings, as does Duhon... Arroyo is IMO a better offensive PG than Duhon is, much better in fact... Duhon plays defense which was a major need for us so i'm fine w/his signing... plus like i said the 2 years was key... Arroyo is more exciting to watch & i think woulda been a good fit for this system... i'm fine w/Duhon tho, so don't get the impression i'm killing Walsh for signing him.

If they had signed Arroyo, we would have ripped walsh for signing players that don't play defense.

But, honestly, Duhon is a stop gap filler. And Arroyo is a much better shooter, which is what got Balkman 'released'.

I'm sure Arroyo would have taken a 2 year, $6mm deal- perhaps with a team option for a third.

Guys....this isn''t hard to understand. Duhon's elevated salary (from the 3-4mm range) was a counter to Orlando who was offering a 3 year deal. We threw all the $$ into 2 years to keep the LeBron dream alive. If the Knicks have the financial muscle to do this, why not?

Duhon is a solid, smart, high energy player who will actually defend the perimeter.

I've said all along we need to veer away from low IQ, low bball IQ, low character players like Curry, Zach, Marbury etc.

This is a step in the right direction.

This is splitting hairs, I mean who really gives a Sh*t. Both are average players with shortcomings who [will/would have] been gone literally before they arrived. This isnt an Eisely 7 year deal situation. This Duhon debate needs to come to a close in the worst way. Get over it already, its not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things given the length of the contract.

I'm complaining about it cuz we overpaid and could have used that mid-level exemption to get 2 servicable players on 2 year deals. Like an arroyo and another player.

Gallo is another factor in this whole conversation cuz the kid is a tweaner. Not a power fwd, but not a small fwd....2 positions the Knicks have in excess.......and the Knicks needed a point guard with Bayless still on the board. Now this kid may have damaged his back.

Anthony Roberson is 6'2".....he's a point guard by default.

Balkman coulda been sent to get a point guard.....he technically was traded for pg in taureen green with bobby jones and the 2nd rounder.

I'm just questioning the moves.....there isn't much else to talk about cuz of this slow-mo off season. The Nets have done exactly what I want the Knicks to do. The Nets even still have a potential deal in the making with their current roster size. Knicks still have potential too but its more like wtf then anything.

I would have liked to see a balkman and Nate for Jarvis, long term that would have been a very nice deal. We need to get that kid and he is very attainable with mayo, conley and lowry

I would have also given our first round pick away in the zack deal and taken brevin knight back. Pics are important but building player value is the most important thing.
