Foreign And Domestic, Jason Williams Weighing Options

Aug 01, 2008 12:24 PM EST
The Miami Herald has confirmed that Jason Williams has indeed received interest from Tel Aviv but is still weighing his options with a couple of different suitors.

Williams is seeking a $3 million annual deal from Tel Aviv, but they are thinking more along the lines of $1.5 million, which would likely be his going rate from an NBA club.

Yeah....annoys the hell out of me that the Knicks over paid this guy Duhon. Jason Williams in the uptempo would be nice. So would Carlos Arroyo.

But we got Doo Doo......

The knicks could have did what the nets did.....just purchace a bunch of cheap bimbos that can play.

Anthony roberson is fine.....but kapow! 6 mil for Duhon....what the hell?

The brainiac from colgate is still available to play center. JR Smith is un signed and would probably jump at someones mid-level at this point......jason williams, carlos arroyo......

Balkman for jones and green? Wasted......wtf.....you mean to tell me someone else wasn't available in a trade for Balkman?

So far all I see is retardation.

As the story goes.......you gotta trust Donnie, cuz he knows what he's doing he'll turn it around after a while....

yeah ok lick it before you stick it......but if you are screwing up the lick job how you expect to stick it? Also how long you think you gonna lick it?

agree on JR- granted there might be some personality issues- but a properly structured MLE & Denver might not match. They offered 3 years $10mm - we could give him 3 years $18m with the 3rd year a player option- that might be as much as he gets from another team.

The Nets bimbos always seem to turn out to be big contributors since Thorn has been there. The biggest surprise was Mikki Moore. He sucked before becoming a net, had been waived by other teams, was put on the physically unable to play list because he was under weight and was beat down by fans after a clipper practice. Thorn just gets it. It is hard to root for a team in the same market that makes so many mistakes when Thorn just goes with plan and has success.

It would seem that Waltoni had their eye on Duhon from the start and there had to be a reason they tagged him instead of looking for some other player. I would venture a guess that it had to do with his mental capabilities. I'm sure that Mike asked Coach K about his ability to understand and execute a complex and fast paced offense. The defense he plays may have also added to it. Also his Ast to TO ratio.

It seems to me that often times when a team SUCKS in terms of overall smart and skilled players, you get this desire to have a PG that can do more. many good teams have low key PG's like Brevin Knight, who are smart and skilled and can run a team as the coach wants, but without the sexy style of superstud type PG.s. I think they feel Duhon can be that kind of leader PG who is more substance over style.

Hey no one has to love the guy, but if he quietly get's the job done and looks to set guys up more than call his own number, then really that may be just what Mike wants. To me it's easy to knock a guy like Duhon or Ward etc. They aren't great at anything and aren't flashy in any way. Still when you look at their production it's not their numbers that matter. It's a fact that the Bulls played some of their best ball when he was running the point. I'm not just being optimistic or looking thru Knick colored glasses, there's real substance to what i'm saying. It may not prove to be true in his case, but I can see Mike and Walsh thinking this way.

Ilm just bustin your chops nixluva. I'm your biggest fan on here. "Nixluva glasses" is a running joke of mine for any positive spin put on the Knicks......

I happen to have high expectations on Duhon. Everytime I've seen him play he always blew his season averages out the water.....he had a string of games one year where he was looking like Steve Nash........I believe in his talent......I just question the plan or lack there of......

Gallo? Safe......
Duhon? Safe......
Signing Anthony Roberson? Bizzare but safe
Waiving Balkman? Safe.....

Lots of nothing yet the main problems with the Knicks still exist.

I don't understand it. People here complain that Isaiah goes for flashy players who don't play winning basketball. Then Walsh signs a point guard who isn't flashy but can run an offense, play solid d and hit the open j - and people complain that he's not flashy enough.

I agree. Jason Williams is not what we need. Flash without substance.

So who is complaining about flash? Is that how you are reading it?

I'm saying Jason Williams is probably way cheaper and possibly better in an open court system. That's is.

I'm a grown man btw......I don't need to see pretty tricks to think a guy can play basketball.

Who cares if he is cheaper? Duhon was signed for two years. Walsh's plan is to be under the cap by 2010. It's almost impossible for us to be under the cap before then anyway, so as long as it's a 2 year deal, who cares if we gave Duhon 10 mil a year? It just doesn't matter. 1 mil, 6 mil, 10 mil, it's all the same until 2010.

Guys like arroyo and jason williams would have been had for less, thus the Knicks coulda signed someone else also......for 2 year deals.

Anyway, what are we doing with the rest of the team? Zach, Curry, Marbs, Jerome? Etc.....no change yet and it seems as if nothing else is out there.

I will be suprised if something goes down, but so will everyone else cuz nothing seems to be available.

I can't wait for everyone to say, "see I told you to wait, donnie knows!".....whatever.

this may be true but do those guys play perimeter defense? do they go 100% in practice? Are they hot dogs who like to play 1-on-1 or will they follow the coaches orders? Do they have a history or getting hurt? How are they in the locker room?

I think those are the things that got Duhon a 2 year deal for the full MLE.

Eny, i still think that Jason Williams would have been better at running the team in an uptempo style. He demonstrated control under Pat Riley to run a disciplined offense and they won a championship for it.
