Is he the last of the big free agents left un-signed?

Slow and steady my ass.....if this kid can become a Knick there shouldn't be a reason not to go all out for him.

Why though? Kobe needs a sidekick......is Josh Smith their idea of a kobe sidekick? They would be trading odom I presume.......not really an upgrade.

The Lakers would do well trying to get a guy like drew Gooden and larry hughes. Imitate the Jordan teams.......trade pau to dallas for josh howard.

Drew
Howard
Bynum
Kobe
Hughes

Look familiar?

Anyway to prevent the "what happened to the OT" post......

Knicks need Josh Smith like a mofo.......they could get by with a lot of **** if they had a prolific shot blocker in Josh playing the 4. I could seriously live with:

Josh/jared
Chandler/gallo
Lee/ my nuts
Nate/ duhon
Craw/ q

Run like a pack of wild hounds!

We don't have the guns to get Josh Smith I don't think.

The best package we can offer is David Lee and Wilson Chandler. I don't think that gets it done either.

Actually, the Knicks do. Curry, Nate and Lee would get you Josh Smith. Problem is that you will need to trade more since it would be a S&T. The Hawks are in great need of a 5. They went after Kwame Brown but the Pistons came in with a real offer. Talent is not so much the issue as it is the money. The Hawks are so financially strapped that they are still hoping that Smith gives them a hometown discount.

Nate, lee and Curry is overpaying but I'd still do it.....Josh Smith should command at least curry money.....maybe the hawks can slide a filler.

Knicks then need to see if they can get a real point guard to play ahead of duhon.

In all seriousness.......atlanta needs a center. Eddy Curry could be traded for Josh Smith straight up. I mean the kid is worth what Eddy is getting......Horford and Curry will fit well together I have no doubts about it. What else could they possibly want?

Ok if you add Lee and Nate, then who comes our way? Acie Law? Why not?

D Lee, Gallo & Nate might get er done... but i doubt they drafted Gallo only to trade him a few weeks later... who knows tho... i would kill to have Josh Smith on this roster.

Josh Smith will get what Deng and Okefor got - $12 mil/yr for 6 years....Deng with some additional incentives. Smith might be able to get $13 mil/yr?

Atlanta may need a center but if they are concerned with cutting costs, then Cury is not the answer. And Lee would also have to be included and he is due a big raise after next year. I'd love to see it work. Maybe they have another contract they would like to give up? Zaza expiring contract at $4mil.??

I think the Hawks will re-sign Josh Smith but try to keep his salary lower. They know no one has cap space to make him a decent offer. The Hawks only have $49.4 mil commmitted sal 2008/09 without Josh Smith; $21 mil committed salary for 2009-2010 season. And $8.4 mil for 2010-2011.

How about....Curry, Nate, Lee & Malik for Smith & Za Za (S&T)?

Leaves you with:

C: Za Za (with ZBo getting some minutes here), Paul Miller
PF: Smith, ZBo
SF: Chandler, Gallo
SG: Craw, Q, Holland
PG: Duhon, Mardy

There are a few ways to get it done......jerome james could do that medical retirement. He could be moved......atlanta might even want Jared to play Childress role.

Donnie could take on Speedy. Zaza is a guy in the Atlanta dog house, that has already shown what he could do if they gave him big minutes. Its not much but he is servicable and can score and rebound. He's tough too.

This is a prime opportunity to trade Eddy Curry. Say this goes down in some fashion? Zach can still be traded some kinda way.

Cha ching!

I agree w/ Enspree. Furthermore, Horford @ PF compliments Curry about as well as you can compliment Eddy Curry.

Thier lineup would be:

C: Eddy Curry, R Morris
PF: Al Horford, DLee
SF: Marvin Williams, Mo Evans
SG: Joe Johnson, Nate
PG: Bibby, Law

That ain't a bad deal for them.
......and then there was Josh Smith
