green + jones are non-guaranteed contracts. i don't think either make the team. they just wanted balkman gone b/c he is lazy and not dedicated to his craft. walsh wants to get rid of anybody that's not serious about playing. that's the real reason why he was traded.

One of the 2 (Jones or Green) contract became guarenteed Aug 1st, so its very possible the Knicks already told him he was going to be waived.

Well, I'm sure it wasn't Jones. They would surely keep a powerhouse like Bobby Jones, and pair him up with Fred Jones.

This gives us something to look forward to.

Green's contract becomes guarenteed Aug 1st. Jones on Aug 15th.

Is it possible that the Knicks told Green there was no room for him this year, but that he could come back next year when the Knick's had more roster options (In essence, using CAI Zaragoza as a "developmental" team.)? Or was this truly and simply a trade where the Knicks had NO INTEREST AT ALL in the 2 players they received, other than the fact that they were able to trade Balkman's contract for two non-guaranteed contracts that they could dump, and a #2?

It is my understanding that the Knicks (Isiah years, of course) had been interested in Green at one point in the draft. Would Walsh/D'Antoni have any interest in watching what Green does overseas and getting back to him next year?

I assume that the Knicks have no rights at all on Green if he is waived - right?

Just wondering.
