Let's take a look... shall we?
On Feb 3, 2006 the Knicks traded Antonio Davis and his ~14M expiring contract for Jalen Rose and a 1st round pick and undisclosed cash considerations (lets call it 3M).
Jalen Rose cost approximately 68M Dollars over two years when you add in the luxury tax to his 34M/2yr remaining contract. True, he was bought out for a reduced rate of 15M the final year - AND - was only here for a few months in "year 1" but, that's the price for the two seasons overall.
So, if you want to be a stickler, let's call it 15M(final year buyout) + 17M/2 (for the half year = 8.5M) = 23.5M *2(lux tax) = 47M Dollars for the 1st round pick that was used on Balkman. Subtract the suggested 3M cash consideration and it's 44M total spent.
So, 44M in and we've just drafted Balkman. Balkman earned
1.2M in 2006/2007 1.3M in 2007/2008
So that's 2.5M salary + 2.5M lux tax = 5M + 44M(Jalen) = 49M Dollars
Which was all just traded for a 2010 second round draft pick.
Gotta love the Knicks...gotta love it. Anyone care to "correct" this?
Not much to correct, is there.........sadly.
