I don't think that Lampe is a certified center yet, but if the Knicks are smart, that's the position they are targeting him towards. Shaq may be the last of the old school centers: big, post player guys who can also hit the 8 to 10 footer and who clog the lane on the defensive side of things. The centers of the future: post players who can also stretch the defense with the occasional 15-20 footer (and maybe even a three). Look at Yao and some of the other sever footers we are seeing. All of them can shoot and dribble... and then they learn to play the post.

ratliff has a long contract - perfect for knicks

harrington is cheap and has a short contract and ward can be purchased out

the hawks are junking this year, seriously - and they are in contract dump mode, for the new owner and just regardless

i'm sure this only works if the knicks offer a number one pick, the hawks aint just going to give up ratliff for cap room and take on a cheap harrington. ratliff has value, he may not be worth 2 players and a pick but the hawks will ask, and considering the knicks roster we will have a good pick,

I read that he's a lot slower than scouts thought so there's no way he can play SF like originally speculated. He's played extended minutes at center in Summer League and apparently he played well.

If Knicks were to come thru with these moves and Dice in the lineup i dont see any down hills.Lampe,Vranes,Willaims our future would be surrounded by caliber players that reb.defence.scorers which would get them to the top of there game.
