Report suggests Krstic heading to Russia
It looks like Nenad Krstic’s days with the Nets may be numbered. In fact, it’s possible that his days in the NBA are too, at least for a while.

According to a report in an Israeli paper - a report that I admittedly cannot read - Krstic is set to accept an agreement to play for a team in Russia. The report was translated by a web site that covers everything Nets and says that Krstic has already reached an agreement with the team.

I started making calls last night to Krstic’s agent, to Nets president Rod Thorn and to GM Kiki Vandeweghe. I even tried Krstic’s cell phone and had to get permission from someone in my company to make the international call. After waiting on hold with my wireless carrier for about 10 minutes and getting permission from my paper, I dialed the whacky number and the call didn’t go through.

Anyway, I have not heard back from Nets brass and an assistant to Krstic’s agent told me that nothing is in place but that, “They are definitely considering several options.”

If Krstic does leave he would be the second Net to head to Russia in a week. Bostjan Nachbar signed there last week. It would also mean that just three players who were on the Nets’ roster when last season began are left: Vince Carter, Josh Boone and Sean Williams. That could still change, as the Nets are still mulling more changes.

More on this later, if we can get more details.

Kristic is a shell of his former self after having many knee problems.

He's had 1 season since his knee surgery, most of which he was still in recovery. I think it is a little early to pronounce him a shell.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Yeah I agree. His nickname was pretty cool though. Krs-1.....a mix of his name and number.

Trade the Nets Eddy Curry!

Nenad Krstic has a two-year deal worth more than $5 million per year in place with a Russian team named Triumph and will sign there if the Nets don’t work out a sign-and-trade with another NBA club by midnight Monday. Krstic would prefer to remain in the NBA, and he would be able to return after a year should he go to Russia.

Fyi......the nets can afford to let Krstic walk. They have boone and now Brooke. They are all to the good.

They also have ager and douglas-roberts. They need to trade Vince Carter. Carter to Clevland would be awesome.....salary dump for the nets and a bonified sidekick for lebron.

That is a cool knick-name! KRS-1 is my favorite rapper of all time too. I kind of like Masta Ace too.

I would love to land Krstic. Talk about a player who fits the D'Antoni system! I can't see it happening though. That makes me wish we did not sign Duhon.

Nets at least don't overpay. KRS might still return to form but @ 5mil per let him walk.

They got Lopez in the wings to play.

Funny but the nets are like doing everything we as fans like to see. They got full value on Williams, bailed on Kidd and Jeff to rebuild with youth and cap flex. They still have an attraction in Carter who has some value.

Lopez, Yi, Harris is a nice core to build with.

Thorn has a long term vision with his "chess board" and it takes patience to put it together. I hope walsh has a similar plan. While it may seem frustrating at times I am looking foward to see how his plan plays out over the next TWO YEARS.

Nets were smart to let K-mart work as the money turned into picks and Carter, Kidd turned into harris and picks, and cap space, Jeff turned into cap space flex and YI, who will help at the gate and ad revenue, and they are not done.

They should be in good shape when they hit brooklyn.

IF they hit Brooklyn. I don't think so much as a toothpick has broken ground at that site yet.

Geez man someone post their current roster. Impressive to say the least. I envy their roster. Plenty of potential and plenty of options via trade. Its downright delicious.

Before he was injured, Krstic was one of my favorite young centers. I'm sure most of his development was Kidd-related but toward the end of his, what?, second year, you could see him getting better every game, reducing his mistakes, and generally playing very smart ball at a high level. He was never a power player but, for a while, he was one of the smarter, more efficient big guys around. Unlike, say, Eddie Curry, he was developing a complete game. Anyway, it's too bad he got hurt and too bad that NJ is giving up on him.

Are Frank's days numbered? I can't see the Nets turning over the whole team and not changing coaches. Maybe they have a coach lined up for next year when Frank hits 10-40?

In effect, they traded Krstic for Lopez and, in the end, will come out about even. They need to deal Vince Carter while his value is still reasonably high. I don't think they'll get a lot because of his age, contract and previous bad rep.

10-20 mils for guys who owe clubs in Russia are same as 10 bucks for you and me.
And they have no idea what to do with this money ... I will not be surprised if some of this Russian Mofos will by some NBA team altogether…
