now considering playing in Europe. In looking for a silver lining, this might be a stretch, but I think all these cast offs to Europe could potentially help the Knicks in the following ways:

a) other teams, i.e. the Hawks, get worse
b) roster spots/significant roles on other teams get opened up, possibly opening the door to trade opportunities (i.e. Balkman, Curry, Collins for Zaza, Acie Law).
c) $$ is freed up for other teams, also possibly opening the door to trade some of our contracts

Remember, we have a ton of excess (excess crap). But I can see some of our crap being sought after. I don't think anybody would be interested in Zach or JJ Skinny, but much of the remaining guys due to their attractive contracts (Malik, Balk, Collins) or reasonable contract & hope of lighting a fire (Curry) could have a trade market.

I think the Lakers, who are obviously in a WIN NOW situation are having a bad off-season. Bynum isn't healing well. Kobe won't get the rest he probably needs (Olympics). Turiaf gone. Sasha threatening to leave.

They probably won't do it, but a Lamar Odom for Zach sure addresses their rebounding issues.

You know what? It just dawned on me that this whole Euro movement might be just what the NBA needs to motivate them into loosening up the cap rules. One can hope.

The NBA which might have thought they could roll into europe and expand will have a harder time. Euro teams are stepping up their payroll to keep euro players and now attracting our own plantation players. WIth a strong Euro, this is easier for them.

If the elite Euro teams continue to get strong they can make a cause to "Merge" than the NBA expand.

Gallo does not hurt his value by coming to the U.S. If successful here, he creates leverage when his rookie deal expires. Back in Europe, he will be more valuable and have some great marketing opportunities than here.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

nah, just though of all the doomsday pronouncers like yourself.. Oh and by the way, the european league failed to land azibuke that is why they went after childress and Finley also turned them down. I think we will find out a lot of guys turned them down, so they went way over the top to grab an average joe like josh childress, but hey, keep it up player. I am waitin for this Trend. this exodus to europe as you proclaim.. LOL...

It won't happen overnight, and American basketball can adjust to keep Europe from poaching talent from the NCAA and NBA. But if things keep going like this, in ten years the basketball balance of power throughout the world will be much less dramatic.
