Hmm. It has to be someone who's more of an impact player than Camby, I think. Otherwise, it would have made more sense just to hold onto Camby than to do that trade and follow it up with a Crawford trade. I can't picture Jamal, AI, and Carmelo sharing the ball well also. Hinrich, I can picture with those two.

I knew Denver wasn't in a cost-cutting mode, not with AI/Melo still there. We should still see if we can send them Zach.

Hinrich plays defense something Crawford does not, and he is a much better player thank jamal

I think Hinrich, AI, Melo, Kmart, Nene is a nice unit and gives them a lot more defense then they have had.

Apples and oranges my friend, on any given night Craw can drop fifty and also give fifty, Hinrich is decent at best.

Actually if you add another guard that can play defense, and KMart gets more minutes at the five, klieza gets more minutes i think they could be better defensively. Camby is a good shot blocker his on ball defense has never been all that exceptional, once you get a reputation for being a great defender people perception is pretty skewed.

Hinrich is a good player, not exceptional but Jamal Crawford is downright horrible for half the season, and exceptional for the other half, and when he is off he is a high turnover player shoots in the low 30s and can't stop anyone

Nene hasn't been good yet. Maybe he has been sick all this time with that balls cancer he had.....he's always been quick and big like a grizzly bear. Maybe his 20th season he'll finally break out.

i agree, he doesn't really fit what their needs are... they need an orchestrating pass first type PG... anyway, they can just sign JR Smith to a qualified offer if they want an extra scorer off the bench.

Didn't they trade Camby because of cap reasons? Camby is much more valuable and needed by them then Crawford or Hinrich.

Imagen how much you would be killing Crawford if he played as terrible as Hinrich did last season for a full season.......LOL

there's no reason to trade Crawford right now. it's a very safe bet he opts out after this year, anyway.

Great thought process. It's not so much the $$$[maybe] but the years. He'll only have 20mm in guaranteed $$$ and if he has even close to a big year certainly as his agent an opt out is a lock. Curry also has 20mm in guaranteed and if he has a big year--his agent will look for volume years--it's just good business for the player. The two players I believe we need to concentrate on getting rid of is possibly Jefferies[because he has an opt out] and defintely Randolph. The *problem* is making sure we have a team in place that is good enough to have FA want to come here.

I use to think that as well. But the more I think about it, the more it comes down to money. Money is #1 & #2. If the money is equal then it would come down to how they view the city & the chance to contend. The only reason any top free agents consider NY is because they would want to exploit the NY market and earn more money then just there contract. If free agents feel they could earn the most money in NY then they will come to NY if we have the cap space to sign them. Even if we have a bunch of scrubs on the team.

The free agents who would prefer the contender are the guys who are like 31-32. Lebron is going to be like 25 by the time he is a free agent. Getting the most money he can possibly get is going to be what his agenda is. Same goes for Wade, Johnson & Amare who top out the cream of the crop.

I agree about not selling everything in order to get cap space though. Like Chandler, Lee, Lottery picks. But guys like Crawford, Randolph, Curry are all expendable in my eyes. All 3 of those guys are replaceable. If we can get other assets for them even better.

what Free agency in BBall have we signed that was a star that factored in the marketing opportunities of being in NYC vs. some smaller market?

Does LeBron make more money from endorsements by being in NYC or Cleveland? I'd like to think yes, but the NBA does a great job of marketing its stars, no matter where they play. This isn't like baseball where the best guy on the Minnesota twins is who? The biggest names don't need NYC.

This might be a factor for a player like Bosh- but if we end up with Bosh in 2010, I think I am going to be disappointed.

The last major free agent this team acquired was Allan Houston in 1996 (last time under the salary cap). Houston main reason was an opportunity to play with Patrick Ewing something he talked about during his final season with the Pistons. Ewing flew out to meet him and blam he was signed. Before him was Bernard King back in the early 80s but the guy was born and raised in Brooklyn. For my understanding most guys who wanted to really play for the Knicks are guys who had a connection to NY like Marbury and Artest. I think many people will be disappointed when 2010 comes.

You think maybe the Knicks never being under the cap in the 12 years that followed had a teeny little bit to do with now FA's coming here?
