Gallinaro gets top marks from European scouts, agents, players who know him. He is not injury-prone and at 19 is already a top, tough, hard-working player. Alan Hahn does a great job in sorting out fact from fiction and has a few choice words for Berman.

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/07/danilo_gallinaris_career_has_b.html
if you did the homework, you'd see that Gallo played in 29 of 34 regular season games this past season for AJ Milan and also played in all 11 games of the Euroleague playoffs and he led his team in minutes with 33.9 per game in the Italian League and 31.6 in the Euro...one scout informed me that Gallo missed the first five games of the season with a muscle pull but nothing else and the season before he played in all but two regular season games and played the entire playoffs.

I (Alan Hahn) talked to a few people -- scouts, an agent who has several European players and knows Gallinari well (but doesn't represent him), a well-informed European reporter, a current Knick who is working out with Gallinari and a person deep within the Knick braintrust -- and this is what I've come up with:

- Braintrust guy on the suggestion that the Knicks already know they won't be able to count on Gallinari this season: "That is as far from the truth as you can get."

- Agent (who usually have agendas because it's not their player): "This kid's got a chance to be special . . . What people don't get with Danilo is he's a good-looking kid and people think he's a pretty boy. He's a tough kid. He won't back down."

- Scout: "He's 19 years old. What we've got to understand is this: if Derrick Rose was in Milan, he would have played half a game. These are men that they're playing against. Danilo Gallinari was a leading scorer and he was doing that at 18 years old."

- Reporter: "The assumption that Gallinari is injury prone is absurd, at least at this stage of his career."

- Current Knick: "Great kid. Really works hard and can shoot the s--t out of it. Definitely a 3."

LOL--the current Knick speaking is David Lee for sure.

Perhaps Berman was the BS - injury-prone, soft, etc and Hahn knows what he is talking about.

not really, I think Hahn is just reacting to all of the Berman BS. He's been jabbing and lofting gernades StarBerman's way for a little while now in the blogs.

Actually, Hahn has been all over the place. He is critical of Gallinari and the Knicks front office one minute, supports them the next. He needs to take a little of his own advice and make stop blogging for awhile. I mean he is now blogging about Knick City Dancers. I know it is a slow summer but you are suppose to be a "professional sports beat writer"

Alan knows how to butter his bread (or whatever), a little harmless nudge towards MSG never hurt.

I've read pretty much all of Alan's posts and articles and didn't notice him being overly critical. He could have been pointing out Gallo's deficiencies, but nothing over the top.

I don't care where the B.S. comes from. I'm tired of all of it.

Actually, it's the R.S. I'm tired of, not the B.S. Sorry for any confusion.

I disagree. Hahn is the best reporter out there. VERY UNBIASED. I don't know if you read his stuff daily but his live Q & A are great.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Hahn is the man for Knicks BB. You really have to get familiar with his style and how much fans like him. He's at the top of the Knicks blogosphere right now. He's the anti-Berman if you will.

In terms of Gallo hype of bashing, i think it's now gotten to the point where its a real for or against type of thing with some people. The hate this kid gets is undeserved and the hype as well. He's always been a legit prospect to me and even more so now that i've seen him play at least once. I think he's going to be a target just because he's the knicks pick. If SA, PHX, Utah or LA had taken him, people here would be crying about how the Knicks still haven't taken any Euros and how good he would be in this system.

It's the typical NY fan crap. Our guys suck and other peoples picks are the next great thing.
