You know what? He's actually more detailed than people think," Kobe Bryant said. "I used to think playing against Phoenix that the players are just freelancing, but he draws all that stuff up, and he can have 10 options on one play. I've never seen an offensive mind like his. And I don't know any player on this team that doesn't think (he) wouldn't be fun to play for."

the funny thing is that he turned down the opportunity to play for him in the summer of 2004. suns were after him hard and only went to the nash option after kobe turned them down.

d'antoni is also kobe's favorite player of all time, that's why he wore #8 (d'antoni's # in italy).

Must be great to have 10 options to get a shot up in 7 seconds. Something tells me Nate may finally get his joy back.

I'm not sure about that, Jordan has got to be his favorite player. I thought Kobe wore 8 because thats how many years he lived in Italy?

i think kobe's downplaying it. there's really 15 options, 3 for each player.

I read that too, but in a subsequent article Kobe denied the #8 link to d'antoni.

Marbury is gonna hate this system. He needs 7 seconds just to plod the ball across the timeline. Then another 16 seconds to dribble around at the top of the key before getting his own layup blocked.

Where, oh where, will Steph find his joy?

Yeah, and Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford still won't know what the hell to do and will just do their little and-1 gimmicks and toss up bad shot after bad shot.

And Curry will be dead within a week.

What I don't get is how some know we have chuckers in Q, Craw, Zach on this team. Then automatically assume that since DAntoni advocates quick shots that these bums will suddenly shoot high percentages? That's the head scratcher right there. All this 7sol crap will lead to is more missed FGs per game by all involved.

Instead of 7-21 nights from Craw get ready for 8-34 nights.

How is the Dantoni system when Steve Nash is not playing?

Denver 1999 14-36
Suns without Nash 34-76

So while he had tremendous success during the regular season--having the two time mVP seemed to be the pure conduit as Dantoni is a pure lottery coach otherwise as proven.

Those records mean alot, Dantoni had the perfect pg to run that offense.

That is a no-brainer. no argument there.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I'm not sure but since Nash joined the Suns, he's only missed 16 games. I'm going to see if I can find the record.

regardless any time a coach goes into a new situation he has something to prove. Phil Jackson would have something to prove.

DAntoni was a very good for the Suns. He got the most out of his players, put them in position to suceed and helped make that an attractive place to play. For one year (when Amare went out) he was great and earned COY.

I have no idea how or what he will do with this team. I believe we have some pieces here, especially offensively. I think we have a couple guys possibly ready to break out and a couple others that will be exposed as fodder.

I do think he's a good coach and has proven he can win through some major adversity

1998-99: Welcome Back, Antonio

Antonio McDyess, who spent his first two NBA seasons with Denver, returned as a free agent after one year in Phoenix and became the centerpiece of a much-improved Nuggets team.

The Nuggets were only 14-36 during the lockout-shortened season. But, under first-year coach Mike D'Antoni, they posted more victories in 50 games than they did the previous season (11) in 82 games.

McDyess, an All-NBA Third Team selection, posted career-highs with 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.46 steals per game. Point guard Nick Van Exel, a 1998 All-Star who was acquired in a trade with the Lakers, averaged 16.5 points and 7.4 points.

Danny Fortson averaged 11.6 rebounds (fourth in NBA) and led the league with 4.2 offensive boards per game. Denver native Chauncey Billups returned home in a trade with Toronto and was third on the Nuggets in scoring (13.9 ppg).

Denver's frontcourt was depleted by injuries to a pair of rookies. Starting center Raef LaFrentz averaged 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in the first 12 games before a knee injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. Keon Clark missed the final 20 games because of a partially collapsed lung.

The Nuggets played their final season at McNichols Sports Arena, their home since 1975. They would move into the brand-new Pepsi Center in 1999-2000.

D’Antoni began his career as head coach for his most loyal club, Milan: here he remained for four seasons, from 1990 to 1994, leading the club to the 1993 Korac Cup. He was then chosen to coach Benetton Treviso, another major Italian basketball club. During his tenure (1994–1997), the team captured the Cup of Europe and Coppa Italia (in 1995) and won the domestic league title in 1996-97. Coach D’Antoni's Italian teams went to the playoffs each season, and he was twice voted the league’s Coach of the Year. In 2001, D'Antoni returned to Italy for a second stint as the coach of Benetton Treviso. In his one season back in Europe, he led the team to a 28-8 record and a league championship, coaching a team filled with many former NBA stars.
