A source with knowledge of the negotiations says Emeka Okafor is ready to move on, rather than accept what the Charlotte Bobcats have offered long-term for his services.

Okafor would be an unrestricted free agent next summer, but the Bobcats might be inclined to negotiate a sign-and-trade now in order to get value back for him.



I know it'll be tough but does anyone think we can get Emeka? I'd deal Lee in order to get him. I'm pretty sure we can get a deal done that includes Lee + Malik's expiring and some other piece of cap fodder. Emeka is the big man we need, he can block shots, rebound and score in the post. Need this guy.

nyk4ever, I think it will take more than that. If the Bobcats are shopping him, there will be a lot of takers. If we can get him for Lee, that would be a big step up.

Knicks can't trade for OK4 for the same reason they have to trade Lee.

Yeah that was a real dumb move, I think you made a post about him and the Duke guys yesterday, didn't you?

If we did get him and sign him to an extension, I still think we'd be able to trade either Zach or Eddy before the Summer of 2010 and that will still put us in a spot to be players in fee-agency.

No doubt, Ira. My hope is that Brown's relationship and appreciation of the way David Lee plays the game would make us the front-runners, but who knows.

nobody is going to trade for zach + lee together. you have to extend lee and they both play the same position.

why? If I am Emeka I think I am as good or better than half of the max players in the NBA

no guarantees the money that was there for you 12 months ago, will be there now. he's lucky he didn't get hurt. at that type of salary, the difference between $65 mil and $75 mil is not felt as much as between $60,000 or $80,000.

Gilbert got hurt and quite a healthy raise in the same year.

To me and you its a idiotic. To him he is waiting for the best deal he can get (I guess). I am just saying $60 in the current market seems low ball to me.

How about Zach and our first round pick to the clippers, lee to the bobcats with marcus camby, okafur to the Knicks.


Okafur/Curry
Gallo/Jefferies
Q/Chandler
Crawford/Balkman
Duhon/Nate

I like that team has the makings of something good, you get what Lee gives you and can make the money work by moving zach and extending Okafur at 12 per season.

I agree with this if Walsh follows through with his proposed plan of claring space 2010. I dont think Walsh wants to add the salary Ok4 would comand right now. Personally, I think Ok4 is exactly what we need in the middle of D'Antoni's offense/defense and would be a great fit because of the way he can run the floor aswell. Just not sure he fits with Walsh's new agenda.
