technical definition of being a *winning* team is 42 wins.

but when one says "winning" when referring to a team, what does it mean? is there a magic win #? is it more about a winning "attitude"? or is it about achieving milestones (like division titles, round advancement, titles)?

Knicks 1st step - make sure Marbury & Snacks are definitively done with their Knick careers

2nd step - change the culture, work (hard), care about the team & how it does, lose the loser body language selfishness & apathy

3rd step - establish something we can hang our hat on, namely Gallinari & Chandler as promising players (don't let over the hill bums like QBrick & selfish a_sholes like Zach get in the way of their development)

4th step - be competitive

5th step - win 38 games

This is something I just don't get everyone wants to wait and see what Jamal does in Mike's system and just buy steph out. Listen when Steph was the focal point of the offense the Knicks won more than when Jamal was. I don't love either of them, Marbury maybe crazy, but he looks to be in shape.

Marbury is healthy and has something to play for a new contract, don't discount that. Tim Thomas reaches his potential in a contract year, so why can't we let him come into camp. Or we can just go with Roberson, Nate, and Duhon!

If Walsh kept Zach for whatever reason, I don't think he even knows let's see what happens.

Jamal has shot below 42% for six years in a row, so why does everyone think he is going to flourish?

Here is what needs to happen and everyone knows it.

Remove: Zack, Nate, Curry, Jamal, Jerome (buyout)

Build: Gallo, Chandler, Lee

SF: Is the Knicks best long term potential position, Chandler/Balkman each bring different things, but they both bring defense. Balkman can change the pace, handle the ball and start the break.

PF: Gallo will eventually move into this role the league is changing and Chandler can get minutes here, but having two starters that can shoot, drive, and handle the ball is very important especially when they aren't guards. Remember Dirk looked lost. High intelligence player as well.

C: I think Curry is lazy, fat, and doesn't want it which maybe true. But if you use him for what he is and maximize him I think he could provide value. Which is maximize him down low for 25 minutes a night never play him more, he can draw fouls and impose his will. There would be worse things out there, we needed shooters we have them. A Diop type backup would be great, low cost midlevel or less for 10-15 minutes a night.

Simple Trade: Nate for Jarvis Crittenton
-I like what Nate brings, but he is still going to take his half court shots and will never be control. Jarvis has a lot of potential at the point and is 7 inches taller than Nate

Walsh is going to find it very hard to move Zach? Ben Wallace is probably one of the few deals out there where he can get one less year.

So what needed to be done, which Donnie failed at, but I think it had to be false the Clippers couldn't have been dumb enough to take Zach is, build up Lee and Crawford for another shooter and continue under the cap, make progress and increase the win total and add a player in the draft.

Jarvis
(Wade/Lebron)?/Crawford will be here
Chandler/Balkman
Gallo/Jefferies
Curry

i like Javaris but i wouldn't give up Nate for him... i think Nate is a completely different type of G & adds something that Javaris simply can't, which is that incredible motor of his... i think Javaris would make a nice complement to Jamal & Nate tho, but we have Duhon & Roberson on the roster now so it's probably a done deal in terms of the G position.

Why would anyone want to get rid of Nate in this system? That's just plain dislike for the guy without acknowledging his skills that fit this system well. He is one of our best shooters, penetrators, pace pushers and athletes. He's tailor made for this system. You can't make a great case against his being here if you're honest about how he'd fit.

Winning is going to be a gradual process that hopefully begins this year. However, it's not the primary concern for this year. We should hope to see growth in this team from start to finish and that would be a great 1st yr.

Winning is all about going out there and having fun playing basketball, whether you win or lose, whether you're great or you suck. The important thing is to be a winner at life. After all, every team that doesn't win the championship is a loser equal to every other loser team.

This is what I've learned over the past three or four years of Knicks basketball.

Say j. rawls yes youre ruling hip-hop
Redefinition say youre ruling hip-hop
Say black star come to rock it non...
Yo, from the first to the last of it, delivery is passionate
The whole and not the half of it, vocab and not the math of it
Projectile that them blasted with, accurate assassin ****
Me and kweli close like, bethlehem and nazareth
After this you be pressing rewind on top your master disk
Shining like an asterisk for all those that be gatherin
Connectin like a roundhouse from the townhouse to the tenaments
Cause all my brooklyn residents, ? heavy regiments
Dont believe, here the evidence, where brooklyn whaaaaaaaoohhhh
See that? bound to take it all kid, believe that
From where they sellin tree at, to where the police be at
Talib kweli e-kweli-ty yo tell them where we be at
[talib kweli]
Brooklyn new york city where they paint murals of biggie
In cash we trust cause its ghetto fabulous, life look pretty
What a pity -- blunts is still fifty cents, its intense
Tree scents is dominant cant be covered with incense
My presence felt my name is kweli from the eternal reflection
People thinkin mc is short hand for mis conception
Let me meditate, set it straight, came to the conclusion
That most of these cats is featherweight, let me demonstrate
Walkin the streets is like battlin, be careful with your body
You must know karate or think your soul is bulletproof like sade
Stop actin like a bitch already, be a visionary
And maybe you can see your name in the column of obituary
Third rate teacher readin and talkin about,
I knew hed amount to nothin
Neighbors like, he was the quiet type,
Whod have thought they was frontin?
Talkin +loud+ like you in rca, get carted away
With body parts and treys, what a way to start your day
Yo its like
Chorus: mos def and talib kweli
One two three
Mos def and talib kweli
We came to rock it on to the tip-top
Best alliance in hip-hop, wyahhhhh
I said one two three
Its kind of dangerous to be a emcee
They shot tupac and biggie
Too much violence in hip-hop, wyahhhhh
[mos def]
I said manhattan keep on makin it (bo!), brooklyn keep on takin it (bo!)
So relax were takin it back, redhook where were livin at
Plenty cats be strugglin not hustlin and bubblin
It aint about production and -- what else we discussin?
When the **** crows, my crop grows, enable me to rock flows
Strivin for perfection ever since I was a snot-nosed
Colossal, true original b-boy apostle
Standin on the rooftop with the, zulu gestapo
[talib kweli]
You think you the ****
Somebody in the wingsll force you to quit
It could be your crew or click
Or some random kid you smoked buddha with
Consider me the entity within the industry without a history
Of spittin the epitome, of stupidity -- livin my life
Expressin my liberty, it gotta be done properly
My name is in the middle of e-kweli-ty
People follow me and other cats they hear him flow
And assume Im the real one with lyrics like Im cyrano
[mos def]
Still sippin wishin well water, imported, from pluto
Three hundred and sixty milliliters for all our believers
In miles or kilometers, most cats, cannot proceed us
In the jungle with the leaders we the lions you the +cheaters+
A cypher, will complete us if we come through your receivers
You can play us and repeat us and then take us home and read us
(line for line) good jesus, mos def and kweli just
Make a ***** freeze up, thinkin we will ease up
Chorus

I had two problems with him. One, he's a midget! Two his attitude, that he seems to be finally getting under control. Now what do we do about the midget part?
I'll never trust this' team again.
