The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed in principal on a trade with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their replacement for Elton Brand, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers will only have to surrender a second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned by the Nuggets purely for payroll relief.

too bad we didn't have the cap space to pull off such a move to provide instant cap relief to the Nuggets... Camby woulda been the perfect addition to our current roster IMO... i blame that on Isiah, not Walsh.

we never had a chance to trade Zach guys... do u honestly believe that any team out there would prefer Zach over Marcus Camby? come on... unless i hear it from Walsh or Dunleavy's mouth, i ain't buying it.

Hasn't this been confirmed. I don't think it is the policy of many GMs to go out and basically say "yeah, I **** up."

as far as i know it's just been "confirmed" by sportswriters... i haven't heard a thing from either GM on the issue... it may have been true, i dunno, but i can't reason why any team would want Zach over Camby personally.

Faith is great in moments like this. I DO believe we will trade Zach before the season starts. I have faith it will happen.

But this does tell you the Zach deal was out there somewhere and that door has closed.

But you are going with the assumption that Dunleavy had both offers in mind at the same time. Sounds like the rumor was probably accurate. If Walsh was holding out too much and godforbid asking for the likes of Gordon as well as picks then it makes sense that Dunleavy says well that's a done deal and moved on.

I guess. From what I read, I don't think Dunleavy was blown away with him during their get together. I always thought that Smith was just using them too to get Atlanta to give him his money.

Camby does not replace Elton Brand. I don't care what Steiner says. He grabs the boards and blocks but he's not a low post presence at all. They still need to find a PF to focus on offense.

Don't tell me Kaman's going to fill that role.
