The ridiculous trade all of us were hearing constantly is not going to happen. http://www.nypost.com/sports/sports.shtml.. THANK GOD!! As of now, Knicks have taken Thomas of the trading block but looking to move Ward and Harrington. I had suggested that the Knicks pursue Dale Davis from Portland who is in his last yr of a contract paying 9mil. Davis is a true grit blue collar worker with the rebounding and defense he brings to the floor. Unloading Ward and Harrington would do it but will Portland pull the trigger, you never know??? Portland has a new G.M, former NJ Nets, John Nash whose looking to make some heavy changes this yr. Knicks would definitely accomplished their mission regarding size and rebounding. 1.PF Sweetney 6'8, 2.PF/C Thomas 6'9, 3.C/PF Dale D.6'11, 4.C)Vranes 7'5, 5.PF)Weatherspoon 6'7 6.SF)Lampe 6'11 and hopefully 7.PF)McDyess who stands at 6'9..

I would gladly take Dale Davis for Ward and Harrington. It would have been nice to see Davis and Spree on the floor together but I guess that will never happen.

Portland New GM Nash did say he was going to make a lot of changes there this yr, now that's a team who has talent and if we could get some guys off their roster like a Randolph it would be a steal.

Blazers Introduce Nash as GM

John Nash

(AP) - John Nash, officially introduced last Wednesday as the Trail Blazers' sixth general manager, said he was excited about joining a team that is in the midst of a soul-searching overhaul.

Nash says he looks forward to the opportunity of joining a team recently re-dedicated to excellence - both on and off the court.

"Paul Allen has made it clear that he wants a team that both he and the city of Portland can be proud of," said Nash, adding that he was excited to join a team "rededicated to excellence both on and off the court."

Nash, the former Philadelphia, Washington and New Jersey GM, was most recently a basketball analyst on the Philadelphia 76ers postgame show.

The 56-year-old veteran manager replaces Bob Whitsitt, whose personnel moves angered many in the community. The team failed to win a championship with the league's highest payroll and several notable players have had surly attitudes and legal problems.

Nash said he wouldn't shy away from those problems.

"It would be my goal to make some changes before the season starts, but not change for the sake of change," he said.

One of the team's worst headaches has been Rasheed Wallace, whose tirades against referees have been the on-court symbol for a team perceived to be out of control when it leaves the arena.

As Washington's GM, Nash drafted Wallace.

Nash has also been known for cleaning house. With the Nets, he swung a nine-player trade with Dallas and an eight-player trade with Philadelphia.

Getting Randolph would be sweet, but he's currently cheap. He's shown flashes of brilliance, making it easy for the team to trade Dale Davis in the name of fiscal responsibility. He'd be an excellent addition to teams like the Wolves or Mavs, but since they're all in the West, they're probably hesitant to trade him to a competitor.

I think while he'd be good for the Knicks, he won't be any good by the time the Knicks are ready to truly contend. (that is... unless McDyess returns). Davis would be great for teams like the Magic and Celtics who could use some beef and elbows.

In my previous post, i included all the big men on the knicks roster who would definitely contribute with Davis as a role player. Mcdyess was included as well but with all those heavy hitters on the frontcourt, Davis whose already 34 yrs of age would make an immediate impact on the knick team trying to contend and make the playoffs this yr. Double D is a savvy tough veteran that plays very physical and adding him to an already surplus of rebounders would be terrific.

I doubt the Blazers would trade Davis without getting a center in return. He is their starting center, a good post defensive player & he keeps Rasheed from having to bang inside too much. I read somewhere that the Blazers were thinking of trading Davis in a package to Denver for Camby, but the trade never materialized.
