The way im thinking is the guys value is pretty solid already and he is only a 10-10 guy at this point, almost was traded for the #5 pick. I think in D'Antoni's style and him played 37-40mins in it. He could net us more value then anything Curry or Randolph could net us at the trade deadline even if they played well.
Say Dantoni "inflates" Lee's #s to 15-11, he will be 25 next season by the trade deadline and won't be 26 until late April. He would still be in his rookie contract. Those stats along with view of him already as an intangible glue type of guy. His value would be extremely high.
The thing that would hold his value back some would be the fact that he would have a qualifiying offer next season and teams might fear losing him in free agency.
If Lee isn't apart of the future in Walsh or Dantoni's eyes then they might as well try to pump up his value to as high as they could by next yrs deadline and see what they could get back.

He is going to put up sick rebounding numbers in Dantoni's system. After badmouthing him, Dantoni might actually fall in love with him and want to keep him as oppossed to dealing him when his value is increased.

Lee still needs a shot. Kind of hard to play a guy 40 mpg if his guy can double down in the paint and clog the offense up, preventing the kind of movement Mike D is going to want.

Lee may need a shot, but ZBo needs a heart. I'd rather play the former as opposed to the latter. Plus, while his points may not come on 20 footers, he'll get put backs & extend possessions that others won't.

I agree with that and I'd rater play Lee too... the circumstance justifies that he play more, but I wouldn't necessarily say, "Lee deserves to play 40."
