A lot of you have said you don't want to watch Jamal Crawford and his dribble-show one-on-one And-1 display. I think it's safe to say those days are over.

What you saw last season and most of the Isiah coaching era was the result of a thin playbook. By last season, a few Knick players told me they weren't even running plays anymore. (As if we couldn't tell). The Knicks would come out of timeouts and literally it was get Jamal the ball and get out of the way.

The D'Antoni philosophy, which Weber is trying to instruct over three days, is based on constant ball movement. When the ball stops, a shot must go up. It's that simple. Pass and move, pass and move until there is a shot. And usually that shot opportunity comes quickly if the passing and moving is done right.

As per Alan Hahn....

That's all I'm saying. The Knicks have a real coach with no personal agenda except be good. Knicks won't all of a sudden be world beaters but they will look like a professional team for the first time since JVG. (And a small taste when wilkins was here).
With a focus as to what they wanna do, and how they are gonna do it......knicks should be ok.

when crawford has his feet set and takes a jumper, he's a decent shooter. duhon has shown by his A:T ratio that he doesn't make stupid decisions with the ball. he might just make safe decisions, but that's ok. crawford will have to now make smart/quick decisions without the fall back of trying to do the crossover dribble. quentin played in the offense in pheonix and fit in. the biggest questions will be with zach and curry. curry is one of the worst passing big men in the league and has very poor instincts. zach, i think, has the ability to find the open man but has yet to display it.

here's the funny thing, if the knicks don't make anymore moves and they make the playoffs...then that means isiah put some talent on the team and all it needed was the right coach. but we'll find out if that's true or not...

This has been my contention all along. I was killed last year for continuing to say that I liked the talent on the team that isiah had brought in. Not every player and certainly not the mix, but there's a lot of talent here and I've always felt that with a coach committed to playing the right guys in the right way, this team would win games. Isiah killed this team last year. He was shot from the start and made blunder after blunder with his personnel decisions.

To me it started in the summer when he didn't pick up a shooter and then added Zach with no real plan for how to make it work. Then he made it worse with sticking with guys that weren't getting it done. Not playing Chan more early, so he could get acclimated. Dumbing down the playbook and completely getting away from what was supposed to be an offense with player and ball movement and running.

Now we've got a coach who will have guys doing the right things and I expect this team to show more of the wasted talent we have already here. If Donnie can do his job I think we'll see things pick up for this team.

i have faith that Jamal's gonna have a great year under Mike D'Antoni... he's coachable & isn't a primadonna case... i think he'll conform his game to what D'Antoni wants him to do... i still don't think this team has a pig's chance in Northern China of making the playoffs this year... we're still a couple years away unless Walsh pulls some kinda magic outta his hat & brings in a marquee talent to add to this roster.

I feel the same way...there's no other way with Crawford.

He is frustrating because he's a good kid, he's always in good shape, he's athletically gifted, yet he plays like a bonehead.

I'm really not sure what to expect with him, in his ninth year, and his 27th coach (or so, lol).... even a return to how Brown was restricting him would be acceptable as long as it's not for a team-carrying 40 minutes a night.

What I don't get is that the And-1 crap is always there for him to go to if ALL ELSE FAILS...yet it's always his primary move. Even if he replaced two of his patentend crossover-then-chuck-18-foot-fadeaway's with two drives to the basket every game he'd be in the 42-43% range which would suddenly become acceptable AND give him about 2 more FTA's a game - some place he excels.

So...I just don't get it.

Under Mike D that ball dominant crap won't fly - so maybe he listens to Mike.

Again, until I see it - AND I SEE IT FOR MORE THAN ONE GAME OR ONE WEEK - I think my eyebrows will remain in place.

I have a hard time believing that Skiles, Lenny or Larry said to Jamal it was alright to come down do a crossover then shoot a fall away 22-29 foot shot as a 1st resort and rarely use your dribbling ability to get in the lane.

Jamal in his own right has also been the very definition of uncoachable.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

You have a horrible memory. Very few people on this site say we don't have talent. As a matter of fact many on the site said we had the talent to win close to or more than 40 games last year. The problem that everyone has complained about since Isiah got here is the mix. The lack of chemistry. The lack of professionalism. That is what we warned you about. That is what people have been right about. It has been nothing about talent for most on the board. Marbs, Curry, Zach, Craw are very talented players. They just don't know how to play the game.
I just hope that people will like me
