Proposed Trade: J.J. Redick for David Lee?

Alright. With the Pietrus signing, Redick becomes available. Everybody loves David Lee. For all the people who like him cause he is caucasian, you get another white guy to replace him. Net Change to White Player Percentage = 0.

The team needs another 3pt shooter. I think this is another baby-step that would add another solid role player. If you can do it without moving Lee, all the better. I would offer Balkman or Robinson in his place, heck, even though I am not that high on Redick, I think he has the right skill set to work in Mike D'antoni's offense. And his contract has the right number of years on it. We need to turn the roster over from Isiah's guys to Mike's type of guys.

if the best we can get for david lee is jj redick, this franchise is doomed.

i would rather keep lee. there has to be another way to get a shooter.

Reddick is a career bench player and Lee has put up 10/10 and you wanna trade him straight up for Lee?

I like David Lee because he is a very good, solid player. Not because he is white. Racism isn't needed here!

Keep Nate - he will fit into D'Antoni's system. Balkman can be traded. We have too many SF who can't shoot.

Redick is clearly pathetic and David lee is one of our best high jumping rebounders on this team.

That is something that would never come across Walsh's mind..

Whats our quota for stiff legged white men anyway?

JJ has yet to prove himself nor perhaps given the opportunity of late. sometimes good players get stuck behind others. The Turk really blossomed (took some time btw) in Orlando and also getting Rashard Lewis set JJ back.

If his back is good, and he has grown into an NBA body the kid might have some value especially in the right system.

that is even over paying.

I don't think Redick is going to be in the league after his rookie deal ends.

Clearly the general consensus is that Lee is far more valuable than Redick. But the guy is 6'4 and can flat out shoot. David Lee rebounds but he doesn't do much more than that. Yeah he creates 10 and 10 off the bench, but he is a good player on a ****ty team. I tend to think he has the big fish in a little bowl syndrome. I mean, he is not competing with anyone else on the Knicks for rebounds. I don't mean this as a trash David Lee thread, I just think that this forum overvalues him.

As for Redick, I am not trying to make him into the next Ray Allen. Best scenario would be a Steve Kerr type, someone who can just shoot the ball consistently off the bench. In Orlando he was buried under Turkoglu and Bogans. I am not sure that means that he can't be effective in this kind of offense.

No doubt, I can retract my offer of Lee, but I think some of you are completely overvaluing Lee and Balkman. Look at Trevor Ariza. Here, he was the same mold of energy player (although not as good a rebounder and dumber than a rock), but off this team, he is nothing.

Hey Ewing, I don't disagree with you that I wouldn't take a flyer on Reddick, I think he could be quite valuable with MikeD and I've proposed that on this forum myself a time or two. Just no way Lee is included.
