Zhang Songtao, China

B: 6/17/1985

Ht: 6-11 Wt: 250

Strengths: Very coordinated big man with solid footwork ... Nice back to the basket skills ... Right handed, but can also go left with ease... Has good hands... Runs very well for his size ... Unselfish, and can sense double teams... Decent range on his jump shot... Not afraid of contact ... Active on defense, understands the necessity of keeping his man in front of him ... Sometimes even dives for loose balls.

Weaknesses: Release on his shot is rather slow ... Jumps pretty slowly, though not totally unathletic... Lacks lateral speed and has a tendency to get into foul trouble ... Not very consistent, can disappear during games... Other times not assertive or aggressive enough, though he's improving in the ABA. ... Not a great rebounder, lacks the proper technique .... Needs to develop more offensive skills, a hook shot or a turn-around jumper.

And yet that's still more effort than Eddy Curry.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

sounds similar to Wang Zhi Zhi from the description... u got any clips on this guy? is this a prospect ur considering for next season's draft or as a invitee to summer league? don't think we have any room to add another big unless he's a shotblocker.

The cool sidebar is that Donnie Walsh has suddenly broadened the international appeal of a franchise with its stage in one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities.

Zhang Songtao inherits a shot at The Harthorne Wingo Memorial 12th Man Chair previously held by Randolph Morris.

Besides, you need at least three centers to compete in the NBA.

I found a pick of what Zhang Songtao seems to do best... diving for loose balls.

A Basketball Picture Is Worth A Thousand (Knicks Advocate) Words

chislic - nost so fast dude. Please note that Zhang Songtao is using his right hand in the same way a running back employes his off hand to maintain his balance, and counterbalancing himself with his outstretched left arm. At the same time he has enough flexibility in his hamstring to stretch his right foot under his torso.

If he had his eyes up, he would be on figure G on page 12 of the defensive positioning chart in the basketball fundamentals primer, tipping an errant bounce pass for a fast break towards the other end.
