It's not our money

July 2

No matter who the Knicks sign to fill in the blanks, money shouldn't be an issue.

Who cares what it costs?

I know that overspending has long been an issue around here, but since Donnie Walsh isn’t throwing around long-term deals, it’s not a big deal if he overpays to get a player like Chris Duhon to come aboard. Say want you want about MSG chairmain James Dolan, he’s got deep pockets. Use as much of the midlevel exception as is needed to get a playmaker in here.

Then write a check payable to Stephon Marbury and move on.

Remember, there are salary limits and Walsh seems determined to get to 2010 with cap room to spare. He's not going to sign a marginal player to a contract that might derail that game plan.

(Duhon is apparently visiting Orlando today, and might be talking with as many as four other suitors)

Fortunately Walsh seems determined not to screw the pooch and spend himself out of FA contention, like you and Isiah did.

When you look at the price of tickets, merchandise, and concessions --- it sure is our money to some extent.

"Fortunately Walsh seems determined not to screw the pooch and spend himself out of FA contention, like you and Isiah did."

Too funny

BlueSeats - I hate to burst your bitter fantasy bubble, but I have the same amount of decision making authority over spending within the Knicks organization as you do. Nada, zilch, zero, none whatsoever.

With regard to Donnie Walsh "screwing the pooch" or being in contention for free agents, that evidence has yet to be demonstrated.

The article simply states that any kvetching over Duhon's salary is moot in the Dolan universe.

I happen to agree.

Cosmic - who is forcing you to purchase tickets, merchandise or concessions?

The purchase of those items is a decision which you are free to make.. or not. If you disagree with any Dolan family policy, don't like the team/players/coaches or decision you have the choice NOT to spend a dime on Knicks seats, cable subscriptions, gear or jumbo pretzels.

Speaking of jumping into FA contention, and coveting other teams top lottery picks, just bear in mind there are no guarantees.

Rose battling tendinitis in right knee
By K.C. Johnson, Chicago Tribune

Derrick Rose participated in the night practice of Saturday’s double sessions for Bulls’ summer-league mini-camp despite battling tendinitis in his right knee.

The No. 1 pick limped noticeably following the morning practice, his knee wrapped in ice, but vowed not to miss games at the Orlando Pro Summer League beginning Monday.

"I've been coming 90 minutes early every day to get treatment," Rose said. "I'll be fine."

Rose said the condition dates to his one season at Memphis and developed for noble reasons.

"I was scared I wouldn't have a good season, so I would stay in the gym for like four hours until I got tendinitis," he said. "Coach (John Calipari) had to tell the managers don’t let me in no more because I was tearing up my knees and I had to keep getting MRIs. I just wanted to prove people wrong and let them know that I was going to play hard. That’s just the way I think."

Did you bother to read the entire article or did you just see that one line and cream yourself?

Did you see the parts about not throwing around long term deals, salary limits, Walsh being determined to get far under the cap and not signing players that would derail plans to get under the cap?

I'm guessing that you saw that one little line and got so excited that you didn't bother to read the rest of the article before posting your garbage.

Yes?

The Knick Fan Base is one large family like it or not. Whether or not I buy a Crawford jersey, buy a $6 water at the game, or the $75+ tickets is irrelevant. As long as any single Knick fan is doing one of those things then yes, it's "our" money being thrown around.

I also don't condone all fans turning on their team, ignoring it, not going to games, refusing to buy merchandise....as if that will get anything positive done for it won't.

The bottom line is, it's our money being thrown around to clowns like Jerome James, Chris Duhon, and used to make irresponsible decisions disappear.

BTW, I pay for my cable, I get MSG, therefore some of my cable bill no matter how small....goes to Dolan...to make these stupid decisions.

So, yeah, it is my money in more ways than one.

Someone should make a poll based on this thread so we can see if misterearl is the only person who can't read.
