If they really want FA in 2010 have a fire sale with the players that exceed the cap in those years
put most if not all effort into developing Gallinari and Chandler

Tank for the best pick in the draft next year

Try to acquire as many picks as we can and like the Blazers next year buy a pick

this way we can have 3-4 core guys who are salary restricted most of this putrid team gone and as much cap sapce as possible
not neccessary to try and win 36 games--better off winning 20. Thats how teams do it when they rebuild--go all the way and accept that IT just whacked the franchise out of balance so badly the only remedy is a scrap and rebuild.

I agree, I would be happy to see us start the following line-up for this season (in order to tank)

1. Marbury (Nate)-- Don't trade, let him expire
2. Crawford (Q Rich)
3. Chandler (Balkman) -- I want to see this dude get maximum exposure
4. Gallinari (Balkman) -- Same as above
5. Lee (Zach)

That brings us to E-Shitty, trade his rear end to whoever will take him for whatever we can get as long as it is a shorter duraton contract/s -- IF we get a someone like Monta Ellis then may be we do it and that would definitley change the starting line up. But as of now that's what I would like to see on th floor and hopefully we get a good pick in 2009.

PS: Before Bitty gets too excited, the only reason I picked Z-Ro over Curry is beacuse in my opinion he would better fit D'Antoni's style of running. Curry just can't run.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

D'Antoni and Walsh wont allow that. And while it may not make sense, it does if you think that you need to attract good free agents. Some may say that stars will want a young and talented team. Yeah they could, but they will probably want a more established team or closer to it.

That doesn't mean you should keep guys like Zach. Please trade him asap.

What this team needs more than anything is a star out of the draft--the way to get that done is a tank--if you can get 3-4 nice young pieces--maybe one of them a star--with the potential to get TWO premium FA max players with one MLE in 2010--that would be the most attractive scenario.

Let say we had

BJ Mullens
David Lee
Chandler
Gallinari

as a core 4--that would be enticing

absolutely briggs- and although I started out really giving Walsh the benefit of the doubt, and I generally support the hiring of D'Antoni, I am worried like you they are hoping for 36 wins next year at all costs.

We will know which of the two it is (Full Rebuild or More of the Same) if they trade Crawford.

If they keep him, then its More of the Same & 36 wins! Hurray!

If they trade him- and I think he can easily be moved for a pick & ending deal, then they are serious.

I don't think they can be faulted if they can't/don't move Jeffries, Curry & Zach because those are pretty much valueless players that are paid too much.

But I bet if Cleveland had Crawford instead of Wally, they might very well have advanced.

I have wanted them to tank for the last 7 years, but this is the first time I dont want them to tank. Imagine they move Randolph and either Craw for Jeffries and have some salary cap room. ANd have an amazing year where everyone plays well. The Knicks are back on the map and Free Agents want to play in NYC for D'Antoni.

I wish we'd done more to tank this year. Oh well. Without that three game "winning" streak, we may have OJ Mayo right now.
