He may want more loot than teasm would be willing to fork over. If you listen to his agent it seems that they want serious enough jack to scare off some people. I mean a team could trade him and let him play the year out to rfa but it sounds like they want a deal now.

he will not make more money becoming an unrestricted free agent. he needs to get his deal now. if he's traded w/o an extension, expect very little in return.

but it's funny b/c if the knicks trade him for someone that can actually play, they'll have to pay them also so i don't see the cap saving aspect of it.

absolutely--that is why trading Lee is not as easy as it seems on surface. You need a team basically to commit to him 40-45mm and they probably wont do that without wanting to throw similar money back.

There are some teams like the LA Clippers who will take players like Lee and not pay them and allow it to go to FA as they are really a year to year type of club.

Only problem I see if Mike'D really doesn't like him, will he put Lee in a position to keep his value high??? Will he let him play 30 minutes a night between the 3/4/5 spots or give him token minutes because we trade for somebody like Gooden.

I think Lee would be willing to hold off on a deal if he's traded to a team that he thinks can win and where he can have fun.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
