I got this from RealGM:

Apparently there were some discussions between the New York Knicks GM Donnie Walsh and Chicago Bulls GM John Paxson yesterday that fizzled regarding a possible deal that would have sent the Knicks Kirk Hinrich and Drew Gooden in exchange for the Knicks Power Forward Zach Randolph. The talks however cooled when the Knicks requested that Ben Gordon by substituted in place of Kirk Hinrich in the deal. Although Gordon is a restricted free agent, the Knicks were hoping for a sign and trade. Apparently D’Antoni covets Ben Gordon for his deep range and excellent physical conditioning. Personally I feel that the Knicks may be better off with Hinrich in the potential deal, as it would solidify their point guard quandary, and act as insurance if they run into another year of the Marbury disappearing act. Although Hinrich had a slow start shooting the ball last year, he improved as the year progressed and by seasons end was once again the model of consistency that has defined his college and pro career to this point.

Ben Gordon is a RFA, so it would have to be a sign and trade right? Seems like there is some information missing here.

I would be suprised at the Knicks turning down the Hinrich deal. It shaves 8M off the cap in the lebron year.

If true which I don't believe D'Antonio Mcdyess covets Eric Gordon? Say it isn't so please tell me no! Well if true makes sense because Ben Gordon A.K.A. Eric Gordon is the perfect D'Antonio Davis player.

Now this must have been discussed in principal(is it legal) which I'm skeptical of believing because Ben Gordon and Deng can't be included in discussion deals until after July 1 I thought?

Also did we have the nerve to refuse this deal as proposed initially because we wanted the supposed Midget Chucker and reasoned if we couldn't grab him Zach is still for keeps?

Have fun with this one folks!!!!!

I agree I think they are different players. They have a few similarities. But a lot of UK poster think of Eric Gordon as a poor man's Ben Gordon. I'd imagine mainly due to height. Personally I think EG is going to be a better pro than BG but who knows really. Their games do seem to suit Pringle's style of play, this much I'll say.

I would be happy to get rid of Randolph, but to turn down Hinrich for Ben Gordan I don't think thats a wise decision.

If this news is real, I can see Donnie trying to pry the Bulls for Gordon but later relenting and taking Hinrich. I really like Hinrich, he'd be a good fit for D'Antoni at PG. Lets just hope its all true.

d'antoni should've just taken the chicago job...

eric will be hard pressed to match Ben's success let alone succeed him. does he/will he have Ben's motor, Ben's shot off the dribble, or Ben's offensive awareness?

eric gordon = 6'1 Q-Rich. at the end of his rookie deal he got 6 yrs 48 mil from D'Antoni's Suns so that may not be all that bad.

Ben Gordon is a 100 times better then Eric Gordon for starters.

My gut feeling on Ben Gordon is no thanks... volume scorer that only plays on one end of the floor. I will say that he's a pretty good player who's played for totally inept offensive coaches. He's the kind of guy with the kind of motor that could become an absolute star under Mike. Image Ben Gordon working with space running up and down the court. He's also a great finisher and is going to win you games.
I still its premature. I think Nate and Crawford are talented guys that can be coached. Lets see how talented and how coachable and go from there.

ben gordon would average 20+ ppg with extremely efficient shooting percentages under d'antoni.

If Walsh tries to get Gordon, it is to turn around and trade Crawford!
