First of all feel free to comment and add your own insight to what i think.
I am a big preacher of defense first and defense wins championships. Good Defense is consistent and imperative to night in and out success. So as you can imagine I have a huge problem with the hiring of d'antoni and his nonchalant view on defense. I can't stand how our team is composed of a bunch of one domensional offensive players who have never won anything on the collegiate or professional level. I was devastated when westbrook was picked fourth because i felt he could change the makeup of this team with his defensive prescence. Then we pick a one dimensional offensive player in Gallinari which was dissapointing, however he does have heart which is more than we can say about the majority of our roster which i like in the kid. I am absolutely puzzled how Donnie Walsh did't aquire a second round pick to draft a player like Joey Dorsey, Kyle Weaver, Mario Chalmers, or CDR. Dorsey, a great defender, rebounder, and floor runner, could have fit into this team perfrctly and made up for the deficiencies of bums like randolph and curry. I think we need to get rid of crawford (worst winning percentage in nba, curry is third worst last i checked)and randolph first. Players like this are chuckers and ruin team chemistry i could go on forever but lets just leave it as these players being the biggest losers on the face of the earth. I think we should try and acquire heinrich, i have always liked his all around game. Another topic for discussion is the signing of undrafted players. i got a good look at jamont gordon in the ncaa tournament and he looks like the real deal, big point guard, excellent handle, rebounds, defends, all around player. Another player i do not know much about but looks like and intriguing prospect is davon jefferson from usc, he is very skilled from what i have seen and looks like he has a strong frame that can easily be added on to.
sorry for this being so long i tried to keep it as short as possible believe it or not lol.

The new guy makes a lot of good points.

Welcome to the board.

The way I see it the draft was really only three deep after Beasley, Rose and Mayo I thought all the player were basically wait and see type players. Once I fopund out that Bayless is a 6'2'' sg and his passing skills came into question I knew he wasn't for the Knicks. eric Gordon was the next player I would have looked at basically for his ability to shoot, but again his passing and ball handling skills came into question and that kind of eliminated him from the knicks need.

Anthony Randolph was intriguing player that would have fit into the D'Antoni system nicely but I guess the Knicks saw enough of him in tryouts to not draft him. Gallinari wasn't what I wanted but after watching some of his clips he looks like he has game and will be a decent contributor to the Knicks. I wanted Mayo and basically every other player was basically a crap shoot. I'm putting Westbrok in that category.

As for Crawford I know what you are saying they need to get this loser off the team. He would be a huge addition by subtraction.

That is my main problem with the pick--it represents a commitment to finesse and downplays what wins championships. Maybe Gallinari is a good NBA player--who knows but a 6-9 220 3 point shooter is not my idea of winning asbketball. Just compare Charles Oakley and this kid--I will take Oakley--anyone else can have this Euro

hi.

also upset we missed out on 2 guards like westbrook and weaver who can turn a game around with their ability to defend baseline to baseline. having guards like that kind've alieviates the D' Antoni approach somewhat

my bad oohah, english never was my subject lol.

yea BRIGGS i felt the same way when they picked Gallinari like we made a long term commitment to playing no defense. However i don't think it was a bad pick looking back on it, i would have like alexander instead tho(more complete player)

what do you guys think of jamont gordon and davon jefferson?

who was the great defender we left on the board? I like Alexander but who says DG is doesnt play defense? You realize he was among the league leaders in steals?

Nice intro swagtime, some of the old heads need to take heed to watch what you are saying, the knicks and dolemite have us as knicks fans by the testicles and there isn't any doctors in the house to pry his hands away.

Welcome dude.

I agree with you, it would have been nice if Walsh tried to get back into the draft and I'm not really sure why he didnt. Either way, I'm happy with Gallinari and excited about what other changes are coming for this team.

The way the NBA is officiated, its not an Oakley, Ewing, Mason league anymore.

The Suns and the Mavs could easily have won championships in the last few years. They are not great defensive teams.

We have defensive players, but we need more balanced players, or to put it more simply, better basketball players.

Chandler is going to key the new resurgence. If Mardy comes into camp able to shoot with a new spread offense he'll have a lot of success.

You need your Rodmans, Jordans and Pippens, but you also need your Kukoc, Kerr, and BJ Armstrongs.

We weren't going to solve the Knicks ills with one pick, but I think Galli' can do a good job of solving some of the problems. The point has been made that this team is as bad on offense as it is on defense so we need help on both sides.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

oak would be a hack in this league this day and age.

We still harping on oak, please!!

Its all about potential, and after the fist three picks there are flaws, question marks and young players.

Regarding D'antoni, Perhaps a good coach adapts to his players. Maybe that is why Phoenix did so well.

They guy wins, and we are so far from championship we cannot even begin to wig out on this team and the coach for at least two years.

welcome swag, where past performance is the only thing that counts, and the grass is always greener on others rosters.

I agree 100%!!

Chalmers was a steal for Miami in the 2nd round...and Dorsey will make a great back up in Portland.

welcome.

YOu think we are close to winning a championship?

You think we can sort this roster out properly in less than two years? If you want to wig out and be typical starphuch whining knick fan who wants big names to save us then be my guest. Im always for rebuilding and if that means some pain so beit.

I personally believe under the right coach our team is better than our record. I also believe D'antoni can construct a winner and when the time comes to fine tune for a championship run then you start to put the final pieces together.

THis is my take on the current situation. While I am very hopeful D'antoni creates some magic on this roster and can get us close to .500, if walsh is serious about creating cap space then im not looking for saviors to come in, nor trades that will impact the here and now unless we take on salary. And that is not happening according to plan.

Of course it seems like half the teams are also wanting to create cap space!
