If the NY doctors say that Livingston will be anywhere near normal after full rehabilitation--we should sign him to a thee year 4mm$ contract with only the first 2 years guaranteed. That is chicken-feed money in this league but it gives him time to rehabilitate without concern for paycheck and shows a strong interest in his services. Basically getting him for the cost of a drfat pick expense. If he works out--we got a steal--if not risk/reward money. Nothing to lose good deal to gain.

I got no problem seeing if he can bounce back from those horrendous injuries. If you give him a small contract then there really is no risk. Low risk high-reward players are the guys we should be targeting. Cut Mardy and sign Shaun.

I think you said it right the first time, don't use MSG doctors use NY doctors. Send him to Presbyterian or Mount Sinai..... who ever, just not the clowns on MSG payroll.

I think for the right contract you just sign this guy and see what happens.

Knicks shouldn't take chances on broken down players. I don't want Livingston, I think he will take three years before he is somewhat fully recovered. Stick with Mardy who might be much better than a broken down Livingston at this point.

I thought the last thing I read (and it was probably here) was that livingston was most likely finished.

If we're taking up a roster spot, risk/reward pay off might be better with an NBDL/undrafted type player who might become an NBA player.

A 6'7" pass first point guard......geez man. Its rough but the Knicks have too many roster issues as is. If the Knicks has the spots to play with it would be a no brainer. The kid is young and probably still developing as a human being. He's gonna bounce back somewhere and Briggs will say I told you so, lol. Good old Briggs.

I dont think it would hurt to have him evaluated. I would seriously doubt if he would be able to perform even close to what his potential was.

Bottom line with this guy is he's not cleared to play summer league. I don't even think he can go full speed in practice either. He's got a while to go.

Like I said in the post--if doctors believe that he can get back to close to what he was following what might be a longer rehabilitation--then we can snatch his right s for pennies. If you read Marc Cuban today high second round picks were being offered at 2mm$ per. I think Livingston is worth more than 2mm$ and if the doctors are confident that he can play again--even if it takes him another 6-9 months--he certainly is better than a second round pick. Again its all contigent on the MDs but if they think he can be close to his old self--its a worth risk /reward scenario since we have 0 PGs

I mentioned this awhile back and when I heard the diagnostic test of his injury, I don't think we can affird to steal time away from some other potential pg prospect.#1 pick Gordon from Indiana.

After nearly a year and a half of rehabilitation, Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston has been medically cleared for basketball-related activities.

Livingston, 22, has played two games of one-on-one this past week and his seriously injured left knee has improved to the point where is now dunking. The odds of him being cleared to play in the Las Vegas summer league, however, remain small.

Livingston injured the knee Feb. 26, 2007, in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats. He missed the rest of that season and sat out the entire 2007-08 season.

Livingston will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 if the Clippers do not offer him a salary starting at $5.8 million. The team is still waiting to see how he progresses before making the decision, but will probably attempt to resign him at a lesser price.

For all Gordon is expected to be, he is not a point guard, the position where the Clippers need the most help. Shaun Livingston will become a free agent next week when the Clippers decline to tender him a qualifying offer and is still rehabilitating from a devastating knee injury.

That will leave journeyman Brevin Knight as the only point guard on the roster.

The Clippers are expected to shop for a point guard once free agency opens with Sacramento's Beno Udrih, whom they had already made one failed attempt at landing last season, and Toronto's Jose Calderon as early targets.

"We will have to address those either through free agency or trades," Dunleavy said.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

livingston's injury means he has crazy weak knees. this will plague him his entire career, if he's even able to resume his career. hope he saved his money.

That picture is still scary. I ruptured my petalla tendon and recognize his knee cap shifted way to the inside of where it should be. I wouldn't take a flier on him. Having had maybe one fourth of the injuries he had I just don't see him recovering lateral quickness. Maybe if we had more than one open roster spot I would do it, but I expect the last spot to be someone who can fill an immediate need.

If the money is right, I can't think of any reason not to go after him. He's got a lot to prove and don't underestimate the desire of a young dude still wanting to cash in and make it rich for years to come.

This is a guy that was compared to Magic Johnson for quite sometime
