In three years, Marbury will be a distant memory and Jamal Crawford will be turning 31 wondering what the NBA Playoffs feel like.

36 year old Malik Rose is an assistant coach for The Spurs, former Knick Zach Randolph is featured on a (cough)celebrity episode of The Peoples Court with Pacman Jones and a svelte 167 pound Quentin Richardson is a national spokesperson for Jenny Craig

At the same time, 25 year old Randolph Morris has discovered the joy of rebounding and blocking shots, Eddy Curry retires to spend time with his family and becomes an abstract painter... while 27 year old servicable journeyman David Lee is playing for his third team in three years

Jerome James opens a club in SoHo with Biz Markie, Mardy Collins returns to Temple as an assistant coach, Renaldo Balkman blows out his knee and is never the same, Fred Jones fades into Bolivian (thank you Mike Tyson) while Nate Robinson wins a championship ring with the Portland Trailblazers.

oh yeah, I almost forgot

The Mayor, respected and feeling comfortable with his voice, makes the Eastern Conference All Star Team at the ripe age of 24.

You heard it here first.

What happens to lead euro scout, Dolan's boy, and Walsh's protege Isiah Thomas? Is he still selecting small forwards for the Knicks? Is he mismanaging a salary cap and creating a non competitive team with parts that do not compliment each other on or off the court and damaging the team for many years after he changes positions and becomes a scout? Is he involved in civil cases because of extreme unprofessionalism, arrogance and stupidity? Is he in a racial sensitivity class?

In 2011 well probably be chanting "FI-RE WALSH!" We fire Dantoni and hire Mark Jackson, have a 20 page thread where we all agree that we all wanted to have him as a coach all along. We then discuss how we need to give Jackson at least 4 years to undo the mess that Walsh did.

djsunyc - I'm feeling Stephen Curry or Ricky Rubio. In the meantime, open auditions for point guard aren't such a bad idea. Call it NYK Point Guard Idol and have 5 cattle huge calls in every borough starting in August. Piece of cake.

PresIke - I simply want Berman ( and anyone else) to stop calling Danilo the Italian Stallion. A teenager doesn't need any great expectations or silly labels as he finds his NBA voice

izybx - exactly

djsu - the press parrot/vultures have no imagination.

David Lee is not obsolete. Nor is he simply trade bait. Lee is a bright guy and It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that D'Antoni WILL make 'em run.

What really happens as the "high basketball IQ", hard-working David Lee recognizes the running game is in the works - and retromorphs into his St Louis physique and reports to camp at an aerobic 225 pounds?

gus johnson said on air during the draft that "people within the knicks have told me that they don't think david lee could fit in a mike d'antoni system." i'm flabbergasted by the comment earl - what do you make of it?

I think every1 knows Lee can "run", i think the problem is in his inability to "gun". So if he has such a "high bb iq" he should be shooting like 3000 jumpshots a day all summer and then well see how he fits in D'antoni's system if he can consistently hit the 12-15 footer.

"people within the knicks..."

djsu - what ushers think don't count. What interns, executive assistants, scouts or front office gophers think... don't count either. The only thing that matters is what D'Antoni thinks.

I'm flabbergasted by people who don't have a clue what David Lee's playing personality was as he entered U of Florida.

I'm flabbergasted by anyone who sells Lee so short to think that he isn't aware of what the Phoenix Suns playing personality was under Mike D.

I'm flabbergasted by anyone who refuses to see David Lee as a work in progress.

and you already KNOW I love David Lee
