I like what I see - as long as he comes here and actually plays I will be happy.
I just dont want to see another Lampe, Vranes, Weis, and that italian PG who never came over (forgot his name). "If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just SUCK." Kenny Powers

I like what I see. He is very physical. He initiates a lot of contact when going the basket. He will be spending a lot of time in the FT line.

2 things jump out at you in that video:
1) The defense played in that game was pathetic. 2) How slow Gallinari is. BTW, for everyone trying to make Maccabi out to be some big time team, the pathetic Knicks blew them out of the water. If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

He is slow. Having him work out until he's strong enough to play the 4 makes good sense. He has the quickness to get a step on 4's and he'll probably defend them much better than he will defend 3's. Maybe it will work out the way it did with Lee, who played 3 in his first season, then moved to 4. This is clearly a long range move rather than a quick fix.

Posted by Ira: he's a 4, but 4s are pretty fast these days. beasley, amare, bosh, etc. i don't think it was a long range plan, i think it was a backup plan after they wiffed on trading up for mayo and westbrook got taken. and if this was their plan C, and it doesn't seem like a plan Walsh or D'Antoni were particularly happy with - why do it? ¿ △ ?

If he is 6'10, he isn't that slow to me in those videos.

what 6'10 player do you know that crosses people up?
His first step is exceptional. He will be able to create more space on his jumper than Dirk currently does. He's going to be 6'11 when he's finished growing. His jump-shot is exceptional. He can finish with either hand. His ball handling is exceptional. He's a straight up mismatch at the four.. that will open up the paint for Fatso. He's definitely not slow. The defense is poor.. but he is playing against men. The level of competition is a notch above the NCAA's. I'm coming around on this pick.. because he's almost 6'11 right now.. he's not 6'8. He can't jump.. that's for sure, but his athleticism will improve when he stops growing. At the T-wolves workout, he was a hair shorter than McHale.. who is 6'11. |

He looks good, very fast and agile for a PF. I know its probably the homerism comeing out of me, but the more I think about this pick the more I love it. Hes going to be great to have on the floor in D Antonis system. How many times last year did the Knicks move the ball around the perimeter to find the open man only to have the ball settle in the hands of a wide open JJ/Balkman/Lee/Q...now well at least have someone who has a chance of hitting a shot. I hope that he dominates summer league so that I can talk **** about him to the haters for the rest of the summer

Oh God, the summer league nonsense is starting already.

Posted by islesfan:Posted by izybx:Posted by islesfan: i'm w/isles on summer leagues... can't get overly excited if a guy dominates summer leagues... Nate & Randolph Morris looked great in summer leagues last year... it's not much of a measuring stick... we gotta wait til we see these guys perform against real NBA level competition on a nightly basis before casting any final judgements... no reason why u can't encouraged w/some improvements you may notice in a guy's game tho... for example if u see D Lee has suddenly developed a perimeter J in summer leagues it can get you excited over the prospects for him in the upcoming season... i think that's totally reasonable. Summer League will be especially interesting this year cause they'll be running a new system.
