Minny never wanted Mayo, they were going to trade him to who ever selected Love !!! That was the convo that went down woth Minny & the KNicks days ago !!! Memphis busted that up by selecting Love so Minny traded with them instead of NY !!!
When opportunity knocks, make sure you open the door !!!

McHale apparently didn't learn his lesson from the Brandon Roy for Randy Foye trade of a couple years ago.

So if the rumored discussions with Memphis were true we were offering Lee for Mayo. Come on did we really think that would get it done? They didn't care though because Danilo was their original plan.

Lee is a loser. He thinks he's the man because he's supposedly NY's best player and teams want him but he doesn't realize being the most valuable player on the Knicks means nothing. He shouldn't be dictating anything as far as roster moves.

i don't think that's right... MEM wanted Lee for their #5, so that means we would have had to trade the 2 picks to move up to #3 for Mayo, making the deal in essence Lee & the #6 for Mayo... unless i'm reading it wrong here.

No we should have traded #6 for number #5 offering Balkman or Nate or whatever within reason. Then if we wanted Lee gone you trade him for the best pick possible after 6. Instead we acted like Greedy MFers trying to hold on to #6 because we didn't want OUR BOY Danilo gone so we give the Grizz a crap offer of Lee for essentially Mayo. Lee catches wind of it and kills the deal completely. The Grizz were keeping us in consideration but we were never that high with the offer as currently constructed. We could have probably traded Lee to PDX for 13 a team he may have wanted to play for and got Jack or other compensation. We tried to be greedy protecting the Italian and got roasted. That's what we get.

I don't hate Lee I hate our mgmt group because we're a bunch of incompetent BUFFOONS!

cuz this way they get the man they want & unload salary in the process... i don't get why they would trade Mayo for Love but that's probably their reasoning behind doing it... if they take Love at #3 that lets Mayo slip for no value in return.

So it would have been Lee and Malik to Memphis for Brian Cardinal and #5. The Knicks then draft DG at 5 and Love at 6 (smaller contract for Minny), then the Knicks trade Love and Marbury's expiring (maybe another young guy goes too -- nate, balk, chandler???) to Minny for Mayo and Minny's garbage (salary dump).

Wow, Donnie had a blockbuster lined up. I hope it wasn't close. To think it nearly happened is heart-wrenching.

The deal was for Lee and Rose to Memphis for #5 and Cardinal !!! We would have had both picks !!! Then we trade #5 pick = Love to Minny for OJ and then select DG !!

It makes sense because the Knicks still felt they could get Mayo until today. BTW, why does everyone hate Memphis. Both Lee and Mayo didn't want to go there.

Remember Wallace's admission his team was looking for a vet for 5 because they didn't think the player @ 5 would have that great of impact on their team? But he ends up trading the pick for a draft pick not a vet.

So it was BS from him. Wallace was jockeying for better offers.

Wallace would have taken Lee and probably someone not mentioned by the media like Craw to match salaries with Cardinal !!! Lee & Craw for Cardinal and #5 !!!
