This is the first year in a while that Im not worried about the Knicks doing something completely moronic in the offseason. It feels good to be able to say things like "Gallinari could be a bust, but if Donnie likes him than I think hell be good" when talking Knicks with people. How many offseasons did we have to put up with defending retarded signings? How many times has someone thrown the Jerome James signing in your face? How many nights have you defended the moves the Knicks made knowing in the back of your mind that it was just another Isiah move?

I really have faith in Donnie and Dantoni.

Do you guys think that they can turn it around, beginning with this draft? Or do you think the stench of this organization will destroy them like it has to every other Coach/Gm in the last several years?

If dolemite continues to tell his president of operations and coaches to starphuck, nothing has changed!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think they are a breath of fresh air, and I am in the minority on one thing. This draft seems to be a hit or miss with just about everyone besides OJ Rosley. Anyone im the lotto seems like they can be awesome and anyone in the lotto seems like they can be a bust, so I can't say that this draft will make or break Waltoni. I do want to see the patience in the organization, in terms of how they try to get to this cap space, and dealing with Marbury, Randolph, Curry Q, and Crawford and extending Lee and Nate. This draft is hardly scratching the surface in terms of rebuilding the Knicks. It's like what Walsh said, it's one of about 50 million steps.

It WOULD be nice to have a good first step though, but if not, then I wanna see how Walsh follows up. Learning from your mistakes and making up for them is how good GMs are made. With that said, lets draft Alexander.

Paience is key. I can deal with several years of mediocrity so long as we have young, hungary players who play hard every night and we are getting under the cap. I can deal with 33 wins next year, 38 wins in 09, and 41 in 2010. What I dont want is a bunch of rich, fat, lazy peices of doodoo winning 23 games a year with everybody blaming everybody else

I really think Walsh has a great chance for success, building on the work of Cap'n Zeke & Marbs, who brought this franchise back after the disastrous Layden years. Hopefully history will record Cap'n Zeke's massive contribution, and not give Walsh all the credit. I'm sure Marbs will get his recognition after his breakout 08-09 season.

great topic- I was going to add a poll about whether people would be ok with anyone who walsh picks or trades.

I do have faith, though I worry about them trying to hard to win games, and having us mired in medicrity with mid round picks that don't make a difference.

It's shocking to see how beaten down the NY Knicks fan base is. What exactly has Walsh done to deserve complete Blind Faith?

For Christs' Sakes people, find your balls and have a mind of your own. If you like the pick, stand up and explain why. If you don't like the pick, like I won't, stand up and explain why. Don't just rubber stamp the pick. Need I remind you that this was the mindset that got us in this situation. People were so happy to be rid of Layden that they had Blind Faith initially with anything that Isiah did.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Noone said anything about blind faith. If Donnie takes CDR with the 6th pick I think we would be upset. The example I gave is Gallinari, a consensus top 10 pick. Also I think that Donnies track record has a little more substance than Isiahs

The Isiah situation was different IMO. With that team things were MUCH worse than they are now. There really weren't many options and any moves were looked upon as a breath of fresh air, from the can't get nothing done Layden days. The problem was that Isiah couldn't put it all together.

In the case of Walsh he's as respected in this league as you can get. D'Antoni is another well respected BB Man. Both guys have been successful more than they've failed and demonstrated an ability to put a winning team together. So where does blind faith come in, when we have hard facts to go on? I have faith in Waltoni, cuz i've seen their work and it's been pretty good. If Isiah was half the GM and Coach Waltoni have been we'd be in a much better situation.

Even with this ridiculously constructed roster, Coach "D" has a knack for putting players in position to excel.
I expect the team to win a lot more even without major maneuvering. That said, I really like the Donnie & "D" combo, and expect them to make at least 1 major move and build a team that plays compelling ball.

I have to admit that I am just sitting around waiting for Walsh to mess up. I do not think he has autonomy regarding basketball decisions. I also do not think he made a good decision in hiring D'Antoni. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop to indicate that there is not a commitment to rebuilding. I think hiring D'Antoni indicates that there is not a commitment to rebuilding. I don't think you hire a coach who has said," my job is not to develop players" , who has short practices, who expects players to play and act like men and professionals. In my opinion that is not the guy who you rebuild with.
