There are a bunch of threads with who the Knicks should pick. Some people are all over the place, trying to cover all bases before the Draft. Lets say, the top 5 goes something like this: 1.Rose 2.Beasley 3.Mayo 4.Bayless 5.Love 6.? Who should the Knicks pick in your opinion. I've gone back and fourth on this, but if Bayless doesn't slip, I think the Knicks should pick the best available player, and that player is Eric Gordon. I know people are worried about his size, but Gordon can flourish in the right system. Once D'Antoni fills out the roster with his players, Gordon will fit like a glove. Gordon shot 46% from 3 before the wrist injury. His ball handling is underated, and I think he can run the point for 7-10 minute stretches. He automatically becomes our best perimeter shooter and he got to the line more than Mayo, Bayless and Rose. His long arms and strength will help him defensively. I also think his ceiling is higher than Westbrooks. Gordon can step into the league right now, in the right system and drop 30 with no problem. He has the potentila to be a big time scorer in this league. And if he can learn to play the point, he will be devastating. Heres a list of undersized 2 guards who have been successful: Barbosa Allen Iverson Vinnie Johnson Andrew Toney Ben Gordon Hersey Hawkins Dwayne Wade Monta Ellis
Russell Westbrook
Danillo Galinari
Eric Gordon
Anthony Randolph
Joe Alexander
DJ Augustine
Brook Lopez

Nobody is a bigger fan than me drafting Gordon @ 6 if the Usual suspects are gone.

I had him as a 1a Draft pick 4mos ago after Beasley as 1.

Other than Beasley, is there a flat out better scorer in this draft than Gordon? People either forgot or never knew the Gordon at one point was considered the best propect in this whole group of freshmen entering the draft.

Actually from the recent rumors his stock appears to possibly be climbing as high as pick 4. As most GM's have said it's a 2man race draft and the rest have as good a chance making their pick stick or miss with the rest of the prospects remaining.

That's the worst case scenario. I'd pick Alexander. Maybe Gordon.

Westbrook, Gallinari and Gordon are the three I've been thinking about. Let's hope that someone decides to go for Lopez or Randolph so that Love, Bayless or Mayo falls.

Heres a list of undersized 2 guards who have been successful:

Barbosa
Allen Iverson
Vinnie Johnson
Andrew Toney
Ben Gordon
Hersey Hawkins
Dwayne Wade
Monta Ellis

You left off Joe Dumars, one of the top short shooting guards to ever play.

There have been a lot of good 6'3" shooting guards, but they tend to have a tough time on defense.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Your right. How could I include Vinnie Johnson and forget his teammate Dumars? At 6'3, Jordan has stated numerous times that Dumars defended him better than anyone. Another guard I forgot to add is our very own John Starks who was 6'3. Gordon has the strength to defend most 2 guards, but I also think it depends on how big the other guard will be that he will share the backcourt with. backcourt.

I'm afraid you're dreaming too high to think we would get a player as good as Dumars whether on offense or defense. But that would be wonderful if it happened.

Funny thing is, Dumars was drafted 18th overall as I recall. He was underestimated at every point of his career.(I used to play 3-on-3 with his cousin. Damn that guy could score! He would just turn and J you from 25 feet.)

I think the Knicks should just draft the best player available and forget about position (Exception: Stay away from Love.), we suck all over. And to tie it back into Dumars, good players can be found at all positions in the draft.
