not sure if the heat would trade down past where they could take Mayo, and that's a hell of a lot to give up for Beasley. you better be damn sure he's a superstar if you give up that much for him. that's a hershel walker trade.

What we have right now is dung anyway. What the franchise needs more than anything is a couple of top 3 picks back to back and then 1-2 years to FA--otherwise I fear a revolving cycle of medicority for years.

That's why I believe securing Memphis' pick is eesential. Will be armmed with the 5th and 6th picks and could package both in a trade up. Or, as I said in another thread, if Mayo slips to 5, we could package Mayo, Lee/Curry and Rose for Beasley and maybe Blount.

i agree we need to do something drastic like this... but the D'Antoni hire seems to preclude blowing it all up - even though we pretty clearly need to.

i don't know how i feel about blowing it all up for a guy like Beasley though. he's no Duncan, or even Dwight Howard. he's a 6'7" scorer.

He's an NBA impact player--no one will ever trade you a Tim Duncan type unless he was 35. I know you are right--they think this team is OK just needs a rudder.

maybe we could trade half our stuff to Minny for the #3 pick.. then trade the #3 pick + goodies to miami for the #2.. so they can get Mayo...

If you have a bunch of crap you can trade it... well... for another bunch of crap.
There is no fast fix. This team will stink for 2 years really bad.
And this is by design.

I don't think we'll have to give that much, but I see Briggs point. You don't often have a chance to land a franchise player and Beasely has a good chance of being just that. Btw, I think Derrick Rose was right.

Ill be honest with you ira--Id give up more. Beasley to me is going to be a superstar and an immediate impact player and I dont have to think about it for one second. Id rather get a player like that and be left with nothing else because I would have FA in 2 years and next year would be another very high pick. You need 2-3 superstart type players and 5 role players. We have no superstar players a bunch of streak shooters headcases midgets bricklayers big games--we have more circus characters than Ringling Brothers. Dantoni will probably be the one who is calling the personell shots and look what he did in Phoenix---Marcus Banks Jalen Rose Jumaine Jones.

The Knicks can accomplish what they need to by trading for the 3rd pick. Knics need to cut a deal with T-Wolves in the worst way. I mean the worst way. Hell I'm willing to trade 6th, Lee, Maliks expiring for 3rd and Walkers pathetic contract in return.
