Bad Advice For Beasley: And you thought his sound bites were bad? Whoever told Michael Beasley that letting ESPN tape his pre-draft process and air it before the draft was foolish. If you have no idea what this is about, you should check it out at ESPN.com. Beasley is being followed by a camera crew that has put together a documentary/reality special exclusively for the web, which documents Beasley from when he declared, through his workouts and supposedly all through his summer. This is a savvy move from a marketing point of view, but a horrible basketball decision. Beasley is in horrible shape, you can see up close what his personality is like, and more importantly you get a glimpse of his work ethic. General Managers in the NBA be warned, you don't want Beasley anywhere near your team. Beasley is a gifted athlete, no question. His collegiate numbers were not a fluke, statistically better than anyone before him. The kid can flat out play at a level we have never seen coming into the NBA. The appeal of that is hard to pass up, but listening to him bitch about water breaks and seeing how soft he is going in drills has to scare would be teams. The similarities in Beasley and Denver's Carmelo Anthony are uncanny – just like Anthony, Beasley has all the talent in the world, but look where that's gotten Carmelo – on the trading block after 4 years. A source close to the draft process for several teams agrees in what he's seen from the ESPN clips, but cautions Beasley's future will be tied to the team that drafts him and getting him in a program. The reality is Beasley may put up silly numbers in the NBA because he has that ability; the question is how many games will his team win? That's likely why Miami is seeing what else the #2 pick can get them, and why Chicago is printing Derrick Rose jerseys.

The Bulls liked his personality after working for them.

This is a very dumb article.

I think this is over-blown, but knowing Riley, and how he wants his players to run through walls, I can definitely see him passing on Beasley or trading down and scooping up Mayo.

If this was about Derrick Rose, you'd have posted the link 10 times by now.

I doub it!

This is nothing but someone with an agenda looking for something to pick on him about. From the feedback I've seen a lot of people like his THE LIFE videos because it's real. People keep talking about his attitude but what has the guy really done? Meanwhile you got O.J. involved in a scandal and his stock has only risen since the CB season ended.

Beasley has a horrible attitude and once he gets paid he will become a poor mans Derrick Coleman.

He has more physical skills than Robinson and should be able to play defense (at least physically he should be able to play solid D) but I agree that he is probably going to play below his full expectations like Robinson did. He is probably more like Derrick Coleman, who was a prototypical PF who could do it all but lacked the maturity to be great. Robinson did not really lack maturity per se, he just had alot of holes in his game that were not evident when he was drafted.

i think these are legit concerns being brought up here... having talent is one thing, but the great ones are separated from the rest by their unending drive to be the best & their awesome work ethic... using a #1 or #2 pick on a guy w/a questionable work ethic has to raise huge concerns for any team picking him.

i would definitely take Beasley if he fell to us but i don't see any chance of that happening... just like Melo was taken #3 there's no way u can pass on a kid w/this much talent work ethic issues or not... but w/a top 1 or 2 pick you're pretty much guaranteed to get a premier level talent so you have to take these types of intangible issues more seriously than teams picking lower than you.

THe kid is what 18 years old??? Horrible attitude is a little much. He was complaining about water breaks big deal who wouldn't? Hes 18. Give the kid a break. You guys are acting like hes Ron Artist. He looks like a good kid, just young. A support system is definitely necessary though. But I think he can still flourish. If he were drafted by the Isiah Thomas led Knicks and was able to hang with Curry, Randolph & Marbury... He would be in trouble. Thats for sure!

I never seen so blown out of proportion as what's being portrayed about this kid. Like I said the O.J. Mayo stuff is just glossed over no big deal he may have violated NCAA rules, who cares he's not in the NCAA anymore I like him.

Good grief someone please tell me something Beasley has done that's a real eye opener?

Most of this is coming from Pat Riley's prickness. This is the same guy who made an example of Walker and JAMES POSEY by suspending them mid-season because they didn't meet their body fat requirements only to let Shaq(WADE & waddle) his Lard Azz the whole season with no suspensions. Riley has clear agendas and he's a Diva Coach/GM/President. This is the same guy who booted SVG out of a head coaching job and took over right about at the time the Heat started getting their act together.

I mean we all saw how James Posey showed up in the Finals. Riley can eat a Kock.

Maybe if he played in Europe for a year he'd have a better attitude? You know since some European team will give him 80mill.
