who do they take? I am starting to think it will come down to Seattle having to chose between those 2 and one of them will fall to the Knicks. I dont want us to take either really but I wouldent be horrified if we did. I'd rather Mayo than Bayless.

Who does Seattle choose tho? I think Mayo/Durant is a pretty tough possible Star 2 Punch that could be too attractive for them to passup

why wouldn't they take Mayo? they can explore trade options w/the Heat if they want or just hold onto him & let him grow into a nice 1-2 tandem w/Durant.

Sota has no reason not to take him and barter him somewhere and this would be the case for every team until Mayo would fall to us.

Sota will most likely trade down if they want Love so bad... the Knicks should be looking to move up if they want Mayo... he's not falling to us at #6.

Draftexpress is saying the Clips are willing to throw the farm at this guy....
One rumor making the rounds says that the LA Clippers may offer to package their own pick (#7) along with their 2009 first round pick (protected) and the future pick they are owed by Minnesota(top 10 protected), in order to move up and select Mayo.

I'll say it again 2 Franchise players in this draft Beasley and Mayo and this is probably another reason for the Wade rumors. They want both of them if they can. No doubt Sota selects him if he falls to them and it will get down to if the Clips offer whatever it may be is too hard to resist and turn down.

What I think is interesting is that there are no scenarios in which Rose could slip past 2. B.J. Armstrong tried to strong arm Chicago into giving Rose a promise and that backfired. I would hate to be the Bulls(knowing what they're dealing with the hometown BS, cluttered backcourt if they draft Rose etc etc) in this draft although personally for me it wouldn't be hard to decide. Miami and Sota are totally in the best spots. I would love to be them because Mayo and Beasley probably are the players of need with the highest trade value.

if that rumor is true then there's no way the T'Wolves wouldn't trade down w/them... they can probably still get Love at #7 & they'd be adding 2 more 1st rounders on top... i can believe the Clips doing that to create some buzz on their side of LA for a change... keeping the SC kid in LA & grooming him to be a star would be a nice start... there's no way the Knicks would be able to match that kinda offer to move up.

TMS - I don't think Love gets past Memphis at 5. McHale has to consider what the Clippers will do with Brand back, with Kaman playing at a high level and with Mayo helping their backcourt. I doubt that the Clips 2009 pick will be in the lottery if they get Mayo.

Sometimes you get lucky mid-first round. More often, you get players like Balkman or Chandler who can help, but aren't the guys you can hang your hat on. It all depends on what McHale thinks of guys like Westbrook, Gordon, Randolph, Lopez, etc who may be available at 7.

I really think you have to be careful about bringing in another star-quality player onto a team when you already have a young face of your franchise.

Bringing a kid like Mayo into Seattle could impact Durant's place on the team and cause some friction both on the court and in the locker room.

If I'm Seattle -- I would prefer to bring in a veteran pure point guard to play with Durant and Greene. I might even use Greene as my bait.

I can see Seattle going Lopez or even Love.

LL, not sure i follow that line of logic, either way they're bringing in a talented young player to play alongside Durant... the goal for every NBA franchise is to acquire good young talented players... IMO a 1-2 tandem of Mayo & Durant makes more sense to build around than Lopez & Durant... SEA's biggest need right now is an upgrade at the SG position... i can't see Mayo falling to the Knicks... some team will pick him up, either to keep him or to trade him.

that's a fair point & i get all that... & i agree totally that Mayo doesn't fall past MEM at 5... i don't think he'll get past MIN at 3 in fact... i think he'll be taken & some trade will be worked out w/a team that covets him... i just don't think the Knicks would have anything better to offer the T'Wolves for that pick if that rumor is true about what the Clips were offering... that's a better offer than the #6 & D Lee for example.
