and they just moved him on draftexpress to pick 4--they certainly need a C and he does remind of Tim Duncan somewhat and the GM there is from the Spurs. That would push all of the combo guards down to 6 for the Knicks. Certainly not crazy about it but atleast we would have our choice.

Not crazy about what?...having our pick of Bayless, Westbrook and possibly.....Mayo. Even if its just a pick between Bayless and Westbrook, thats a win/win for the 6th spot in the draft.

It's good that we will have our pick most likely[not mayo] but I would still rather have a big player at 6.

If this all works out the Knicks could walk away with Mayo.

1. Rose
2. Beasley
3. Lopez
4. Bayless (they woould really have to love Bayless for them to pass on Mayo)
5. Love
6. Mayo

I dont get the fascination over a 7 footer who shoots a poor percentage (47%) and can't rebound against competition void of other 7 footers. He is supposed to shoot better and rebound more in the NBA? I pray that Minny or Seattle takes Lopez and bumps one of the guards to us.

this is a good post and observation Briggs.

I just noticed the other day that Lopez is the only top 10 talent that has not worked out for us, the Knicks are pretty much the only team to work out almost ALL the expected lottery players... except Lopez.

Interesting

The T-Wolves worked out Lopez two straight days and then went to see him again when they went to see Mayo and others practice for multiple teams.

The T-wolves have to pick Brook so they can move Al jefferson back over to his natural position.

Seattle aint pickin Mayo...... Besides Durant wants to be the 2 guard. These guys could take Love too. Seattle needs the post presence. They already have watson and ridinour but they also have 2 shot blocking prospects. Not to mention wilcox and collison. So these guys to me can really screw **** up. We all expect Bayless is their pick.

Memphis needs a center. They already have warrick who was looking really good last year. Check his game log. If Mayo fell, how can Memphis pass on him? They would have Gay, Mayo and Conley along with warrick....that's crazy.

Don't forget Miami might be thinking the same way and just go ahead and draft Mayo so they don't have to beg for him via trade. Wade is working out with the dude for christsakes.

Remember he plays with another 7 footer on the block and still averages 19 +8+ 2. He has a low release point on his shot but he has good touch with very nice footwork. He has a lot of nice physical attributes. A huge wingspan for a 7 footer a very strong base good footwork nice post skills solid touch from the field and FT line and he's smart and tough. That makes up for not being the most athletic guy but there are plenty fo those in the history of the nba who were quite good.
On upside potnetial--you look at his freshmen year when he had 19-11-12 in one game and had 4 30 point games this year with some big baskets down the stretch in a few important games. He's going to go 3-4 and it's easy to see why.

Briggs let me get something straight the two guys you have touted huge in the draft are McGee and Randolph. You have said both guys in the right system will be great players. McGee has been awful in tryouts and Randolph has been dropping. Now you're saying Lopez reminds you of Tim Duncan. Lopez shot 46% from the field this year and has no athelticism and not a great motor. Over the last two days you have backed off Randolph as the 6th pick said Bayless should be the one, wouldnt mind having Lopez. I have been dumb enough to say EG as our pick Courtney Lee as a sleeper and Arthur and Rush will be better than Randolph who will be a monumental bust. Who should the Knicks draft, and do you think Randolph and Mcgee will be great still?

I would take Randolph if I was picking--thats me. I havent changed on that. I said Lopez reminded me of a version fo Tim Duncan like 3 months ago. And who said Mcgee has been bad--i have read hes been good??

Knicks need the Sonics to take Bayless. So Memphis can take Love at 5. This would all the Knicks a huge break and opportunity to get Mayo. But if the Knicks were smart they would just trade up to take Mayo without hesitation take a bad contract in the process.

No way Mayo slips past Memphis guys. If he does then the Knicks are trading him to miami for Beasley.......you heard it here first.

Seven-footer JaVale McGee of Nevada impressed the Suns in a workout over the weekend and has become a possible lottery pick.

"He can literally be as good as he wants to be," Suns VP of basketball operations David Griffin said. "He's the kind of guy that excites you when you walk into a gym and say, 'Oh my, did you see that?' Yeah, (drafting him) would be a leap of faith, but Amaré (Stoudemire) was a leap of faith too, and sometimes you have to take some chances." The Suns have the 15th pick this year, courtesy of the Hawks

I don't know but that doesnt sound like he has been doing too bad??

That is my whole contention. We won't take a player like Randolph because we dont have the patience or the will to let a player develop who obviously has great skills. Were going to settle for a 6-3 guard--I already know it. For a team that scks a 6-3 guard is ehhh especially on defense unless its westbrook. I didnt see too many 6-3 guards in the finals making am imapct from the SG did you?
This is why the Knicks sck--they dont get it and havent since Checkketes and Grunfeld left.

Miami has no incentive to do this, especially straight up. Plus they want to get under the cap so they wont take back anyone we have.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Lopez doesn't remind me of Tim Duncan, but maybe Kevin McHale will agree with Briggs.

I don't hate Brook Lopez, I just don't want him. I don't think any comparisons to Frye are fair, I think he is a better player than Frye was, better rebounder, better defensive player, better all around, Frye did have a better shot though. I believe in the end Lopez is going to have a hard time shaking that vaunted "Pac10 bigman" label (unlike Kevin Love) but he's not going to be a bad player, although if he's picked 3 I have a hard time believing he'll live up to that draft position.

This post really had nothing to do with getting Brook Lopez[although I would prefer him to the combo guards] it was more about that it seems like Seattle is taking him.

Briggs, not to be an ass or anything, but if I had a nickel for every time you did the same thing, I'd be a rich man...
