Juan Carlos Navarro, who earned $538,000 with the Grizzlies last season, was swayed by a deal from FC Barcelona that will pay him between $20 million and $24 million over the next four years.

the american dollar is tanking compared to the Euro, might make the money situation a lot less of a draw to the NBA.

No, remember that Isiah Euro trip a little while back? That was him pulling strings for FC Barcelona.

Euro-ball is going up faster that NBA ball is going down.
You will see a lot of American players in Euroleague pretty soon.

Thats the key, really. 1 euro = 1.5 dollars, but anyway according to Barcelona GM, they have not paid that much to get him as being reported.
Anyway, in spite of being a clutch and proven winner player in Spain, he really had no place in the NBA in my opinion. He can shoot, but to be used just to shoot 3 pointers is not what he was looking for for his career. Anyway, he was a free agent, this is his choice. I welcome him in F.C. Barcelona; its been so many years without winning the ACB league already.

This is a great example of why NBA teams might want to steer clear of the international players.

If they are good enough to be drafted in the NBA than they are legends in their home lands and they are constantly being propositioned by their home land teams and other countries as well.

I don't like the fact that we could draft a guy and he just decides to stay in Europe or we control him for 2 years and he returns to Europe.

BTW, Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol brother, has announced that he will play for the Grizzlies for the next 3 years. Very good move by them. He is a 7'1 center and was the MVP of the Spanish ACB league with 16.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.9 bpg and 2.3 apg (20 ppg, 10 rpg and 5 apg in the play-offs). I hope Spain starts both brothers at the Olympics.

The lesson should be learned. The nba should black ball Europe now since they're players essentially don't need the NBA anymore.

Rule should be.......professional players should not be eligable for the nba draft, PERIOD!!! If these fags are already playing pro overseas in anyway, they don't need the nba draft. They should be able to sign as free agents. Cuz rules should apply for all players......in the american leagues like the cba, etc.....if there is a guy that wants to play in the nba shouldn't he be eligible for the draft?

Its total bull****......where is Playa when you need him?

I agree with this. Euro player should not be in the draft. Or any player that has player professionally. If teams want a Foreign players service and has played professionally they should be sign as Free Agents.
