#6, Jefferies, James, & Nate for Barbosa, Diaw & #15.

It saves Pheniox 30mil,they add the #6 pick in the draft, move up 9spots, and add nate which would be a decent consolation price to losing Barbosa.

Knicks add 30mil and 2 contracts past 2010/2011 but upgrade drastically on our least talented players who provide nothing. Barbosa & Diaw are also going to be tradable again unlike Jefferies.

Curry, Randolph, Lee, Rose, Diaw, Chandler, Richardson, Balkman, Crawford, Barbosa, Nate, Marbury, Collins.

You figure J'Oneal, Artest, Kmart & Camby are all available as well. With a string of some smart bargain deals Walsh could end up with a rotation of
Camby, Curry, O'neal, Kmart, Diaw, Artest, Barbosa, Crawford & the # 15th pick.

Package #15 & Curry for a PG.

I would consider it but the goal should be to use the 6th to move up and get Mayo.

nyny, i'm a little confused... u were dead set against trading the #6 to move down to #16 & unload Zach's much bigger contract, & yet you're proposing a deal where in essence we'd be taking ON longterm contracts of less talented players and moving down to #15 in the process, on top of giving up a talented young player like Nate in the deal... where's the logic?

A yo, I love you NYNY, but we 'aint biting on this Boris Diaw/Barbosa a.k.a Eisley/Shandon Anderson v 2.0 stuff. They're expensive role players man. Their skill levels can be re-duplicated at a 1/3rd of the cost at least. Nate can be Barbosa fill in already.

When you have a pick this early, you expect to get a quality starter and hope for a future all star. When you trade a pick like that you want to get a young player at that level.

hmm, you're basically proposing a 13 man rotation, nyny. i think that's too many guys. i would not be totally opposed to adding diaw and barbosa, but i think we'd need to move some more pieces for that to make sense.

my main problem is: they are clearly bench players. we have a tremendous bench as is. our problem is that we have no guys who can start. diaw and barbosa are two more guys who don't have a natural position and thus are best suited to come off the bench. we need starters. i hope with the six pick we can add at least one bonafide starter. i think Crawford and ZBo are the only guys on our team who would start for most other NBA teams - and I don't want ZBo here and Crawford is debatable. We need bonafide starters.

I think you are pretty down on Diaw and Barbosa... they are both very talented players. In fact, I am of the belief that the suns destroyed Atlanta in the Joe Johnson trade based upon Diaw's performance. My belief is that we can get Diaw and Barbosa for Marbury's expiring contract (we would need to include something like Balkman and take back Raja Bell's expiring contract) but I think we could get it done without giving up our draft pick.

I also think we could pawn off Curry to Sacramento with Nate Robinson for Ron Artest via sign and trade or for his expiring.

Randolph is tough to get rid of, but I don't want to sell low. I would like to test him out in the East at Center. In the D'antoni offense, with less stress on Defense, his deficiencies might be lessened. Besides, based upon current valuation of his trade (that is one based solely upon contract value, his value can only go up as we pay him more). He is still relatively young and talented. There is no reason to sell low but for the negative stigmas attached to his Jailblazer days.

I would also see if we could move Crawford for Josh Howard. Dallas might bite to be rid of Howard's troubles. I am not down on Crawford, but I kind of want to turn over the roster.

I would use the MLE, the LLE and our draft pick to pick up a backup pg, C and tweener. Ideally, Mayo would be the backup PG/SG (for teh purposes below, I would hope he falls to us, but I would use Chandler as a trading piece to move up). I like Childress with the MLE. I like Chris Andersen with the LLE.

Mayo/Barbosa
Howard/Mayo
Artest/Childress
Diaw/Lee
Randolph/Andersen

Bench: Chandler,(?) Jeffries, Collins, James, Bell, Morris

I would love to hit the court with this team in 2008/2009

i'm not down on them at all, but bottomline is they're both role players... it doesn't make any sense to move down in the draft for role players while also worsening our already messed up cap situation, especially when you were of the mind that moving down in the draft without getting top notch calibre talent was not worth it to get the cap space.

if u wanna trade Zach for Diaw & Barbosa, i'm all for it... i'd make the trade off to get rid of Zach & replace him w/2 role players, but to move down in the draft isn't worth it unless we're talking about getting a big chunk of cap space by doing so.

& the only way i would even consider Diaw & Barbosa for Marbury's expiring is if the Suns threw in ATL's #15

I wasn't against moving the #6. I just wanted more value then what was proposed like another draft pick from Philly or that 10mil trade except TB was talking about.

Im just kicking around Ideas here and getting opinions. Im not going to arguing this is the road we should take. The way im thinking is we are turning our least productive players into proven productive players in D'Antoni's system.

I believe both players will be tradeable and hold decent value a yr or 2 down the road aswell with D'Antoni here. This move would also be really good if we went all out to get J'Oneal, Artest, & Kmart. But again im just thinking out loud, kicking Ideas around.

i'm all for kicking ideas around bro, but IMO u can easily get guys like Diaw or Barbosa w/o having to give up the pick much less include Nate in the deal.

I think with Spencer Hawes in the picture, Randolph would be a better fit in SacTown.

Randolph for Artest and Kenny Thomas.
