The Bulls should have definitely waited...

Start with Donnie Walsh.

Hey, let's hire the guy who coached one of the first teams to get eliminated from the playoffs.

What about the guy whose team is likely to go far in the playoffs thanks to the tremendous job he's done coaching their defense?

Nah, the guy I want has a System that will sell tickets and be entertaining. Nobody buys tickets or watches games for defense.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

That doesn't matter. It's just more canon fodder around here to try and beat down the D'Antoni hire. Oh yeah Mark Jackson too. I mean those guys have much more success as a head coach than a guy like D'Antoni.

this is true...but it wasn't b/c of defense...it's b/c the team couldn't score.

so i guess that makes thib a great defensive coordinator while his offensive philosophy is still unknown.

Well, Thibs was my first choice from the beginning, but I supported the D'Antoni move because he was available. It wasn't a given that we would get Thibs down the line.

It's a lot easier to scout for the draft when you have a coach in place. Thibodeau is a wild card who could be very good, but D'Antoni was already one of the most succesful coaches int he league.

We can't just transpose any coaches success from one team to another.

In boston, you had a starphuch dejour with three guys that sacrificed their game and bought in big time. Good role players and the right players type HEAD coach and it worked.

THibs as head coach might not have had the cred with those guys to pull it off. As an assistant, sure it worked real good.

If Thibs is head coach, can the offense run smooth? Wasn't JVG seen as a defense first coach in the same mold?

Differnt guy, and always different circumstances.

A situation like we have with bone head players could be a disaster with Thibs. With MikeD, its different.

Boston has chemestry.

Can you see a rookie coach trying to teach Craw_Nate _Marbury team defense?

Especially with Uncle Isiah locked in the basement?

Nalod... dont let logic confuse you. DAntoni only wins games. Thibs wins titles.

Is there any reason to believe Thibs would be a better coach then JVG?

I don't know what kind of head coach Thib would have been but some people are better suited for the assistant spot as opposed to head coach. So I don't see as some tremendous loss for teams who didn't hire him unless he actually goes on to a head job and wins a title. But I've seen some great assistant coaches fail as head coaches like I said some people are better suited for the assistant spot then the head coach.

do not get it twisted. D'antonis job is to come in here and raise the value of our players, make them look good while we try to get better ones. I dont think he will stillbe here for the championship run
