Ben Gordon Open To Knicks' Trade
Jun 17, 2008 4:05 PM EST

Chicago guard Ben Gordon isn't upset at the possibility of being traded to his hometown New York Knicks, according to The Daily Progress.

He understands that if the Bulls opt to take Derrick Rose with the first overall pick in next Thursday's draft that General Manager John Paxson will likely have to trade one of the team's current guards.

There has already been speculation that Gordon could be the one shipped out of Chicago, with the Knicks as a possible destination.

"Honestly, in the NBA, all things are a possibility," Gordon said. "Would playing for New York be something interesting? I think if you ask any kid if [they want to play in their hometown], anybody would like that. It’s your hometown."

However, Gordon knows that he's still playing for the Bulls.

"Right now I’m a Chicago Bull. I love playing for the Bulls, but I don’t know what’s going to happen around draft time. Crazy stuff can happen."

Gordon is a better player than Nate and would be a nice fit in D'antoni's system coming off the bench. Wouldn't mind Ben on this team but it depends on who have to give up to get him.

Haven't we done enough business with the Bulls for a millenium?

do we really need more G's that play no D & launch up shots? unless it's a trade off of Jamal or Nate i don't see the point.

He's not much better. He's a mainly a chucker, and meanwhile, Nate has been slowing improving his point guard skills and is still a very good shooter. Good enough that people can't even leave him open. And Nate is pretty clutch too. I wouldn't trade for Gordon. There's really no point.

Exactly - why remake a roster that didnt work in Chicago and overpay to have it play in NY? No more Bulls players please.

Gordon was the man.......now he is rumored to come here? Nah man he is dead on that. We don't need him. Maybe to juggle these nuts.

Can't get behind this idea at all. I would only look at Heinrich on Chicago. Maybe both Heinrich(as a starting PG, and Gordon as a 6th man-ala Leandro) But I would have to jettison Craw and Nate and get a true SG who is over 6-5 and can D up.

So Gordons a chucker and Nate isn't?

Gordon's career avg's/ 19pts 43%fg 42%3pt 3ast 90%ft 30 mins

Nate's career avg's/ 11pts 42%fg 36%3pt 2ast 77%ft 23mins

Ben Gordon on this team would be our most clutch performer. He has sank more clutch shots against us than Nate has in his whole career. Ben's 3pt fg% is higher than Jamal reg fg%. He gives us the perimeter threat we need especially in D'Antoni's offense where he can spot up. While you claim Nate is improving his pg skills, I think we all have to admit he will never be a pure pg. He'll always be a tweener. And if thats the case, Ben is a better tweener than Nate is. And Ben can can play some point aswell.

I'm not saying we should make a big play for Ben. But if we can get him with a reasonable package, I dont see the harm. He would flourish in D'Antoni's system.

no way that's gonna happen w/Zach, Jamal, Nate, Marbury & Curry on the same roster.

First off, any trade involving Gordon would have to be a sign and trade deal since Gordon is now a FA.

I'm not saying I'd run right out and try and get Ben Gordon, but trust me, there are a lot worse players in the league then Ben Gordon.

Gordon in D'Antoni's system would be a very good player, but you could say that about alot of players in this league. Gordon is an excellent shooter, he'd be interesting, of course, he could want alot of money which would be an instant turnoff.

if Gordon wants to take the MLE to play here, i'd do it. otherwise, i'd do maybe a sign and trade of Malik and Nate.

i still think he's not worth big money though.

I agree with you, he's not worth more than 9mill a year, that's as high as I'd go for him. I do think he'd be great in this offense though. I don't know if I'd say 25pts, but he could do that, he's that good of a shooter.

Malik/Nate might actually get it done, especially if he tells the Bulls he wants to play for the Knicks... could be interesting.

ben gordon is a 10X better shooter than anybody on the team.

41% to 42% to 46% (until his off year this past season where everything went wrong for the bulls)

07/08: 24ppg, 45%
06/07: 34ppg, 48%
05/06: 27ppg, 53%

those are his #'s vs. pheonix. if he was on the knicks, he would be a shooting MACHINE w/ d'antoni.

I totally agree DJ. Question is, how much would you pay him?
