Other then Lebron James player option.

That means not only can they give Lebron whatever he wants they will also probably go after someone like Joe Johnson, Ray Allen, Tmac, Amare, Bosh, Aldridge and try and form a big 3 like Boston.

They probably resign Illgauskas(6-7mil), West(4-5mil), maybe Gibson depending on how he does next season. Plus what ever rookeis they draft these next 2 yrs but they are going to have money to burn.

They will be as big a player in this free agency as any other team out there with cap space.

But why would LeBron want to be on a team without anybody on it and just cap space? <heavy sarcasm>

oh crap, Curry and Jamal have opt outs in 2010! they're just gonna leave and go to Cleveland!!!!!

in all seriousness, this is why we can't just sit back and try to trade our 6 pick for cap space - we need to build a competitive team to which Lebron or anyone on it will be the last big piece, not the first piece. We need to build a team. We need to use the 6 pick and 2009 draft pick extremely carefully and smartly. If we don't have a young, cheap team in place by the summer of 2010, we won't get jack.

edit: also, their complete lack of commitment for 2010 is the main reason why I've been screaming for months that they are a key target to send ZRo to. he won't kill their cap long-term, he's a low post option for Bron to play off, he's a rebounder and with Bron as his alpha-dog, he may stay in line better.

They proably use Lebron to lure Free agents, plus the fact they could offer a lot of money. I think players will be inticed by what Boston has done and the fact that Cavs could offer them a lot of money.

All I know is if Cavs get Tmac, resign Lebron & sign J'Oneal or Aldridge then thats going to suck.

Tmac and Lebron on the same team would be the worst idea ever. you can only have one alpha dog.

Tmac isnt an alpha dog

Tmac prefers to be the 2nd option anyway, he doesn't like the pressure of having to carry a team, hed rather just get his #s and chill as the 2nd option. He is at the age where I can easily see him taking the step back in order to get his ring.

I thought NY going for TMac and Lebron would be a good idea - I like the thinking. My problem with TMac wanting to be option #2 is - why did he leave Vince up in Canada then? I guess he wanted to try it on his own and realized he is better as #2.

I think they would make a great tandem though - both can pass the ball, shoot it, and could switch on and off as the primary option.

What has Boston done? they basically pulled a scam on the NBA. With McHale and Ainge leading the way. If that is called dealing I want John starks to become the new GM of the Lakers and I want Allan Houston to become of the GM of the Knicks and have Starks send Kobe to NY ASAP for Crawford and Curry.

to think redd, joe johnson and ray allen all decline to go to cleveland to play with lebron (so they ended up larry hughes that offseason).

that will all change when Lebron sells his mansion and moves away from friends and family out of his home state to come play for the Knicks.

At the last minute he's going to back out of signing with NY because "Mike DAntoni doesnt care about defense."
