omar has isiah like tendencies...
Isiah and his chicago familia = omar and his dominican parade
Marbs = delgado
Bad signings and trades all mixed between 3 young guys who are wasting their prime years. (Beltran, reyes, Hot Corner Hottie = Lee, Nate, and Craw to an extent)
They both like to talk **** and in parables and fairy tale talk.
The "fire" chants are screwed up to......"fi-rrr-I-za-yah" and "fi-rrr-mi-ni-yah".......
Sad just sad.
you can't compare the mets to the knicks. you can argue that beltran, reyes and wright are the best in the nl in their position. nate, lee and craw are no where near that level. this team was uninspired from the start so wille deserved to get fired. i thought they should have done it last year but i see their logic by giving him the benefit of the doubt. this team at least have talent though it is one of the oldest teams in the league. on paper, it should have a better record. we all saw that randolph talking has become white noise to the team. its a shame because i don't know if they can recover or not. i personally think that we need a manager who will flip over the buffet table once in a while ( not all the time like bowa). manuel seems like randolph except he has experience.
unlike the yanks and redsox who have now spent money on the farm system the past few years (where they rank top 5), the mets have left their farm system basically barren (except for that outfielder they keep talking about). so they have no choice but to win right now so they can't afford to ride with willie.
i keep telling a friend of mine, who's a huge mets fan, that despite the perception that everything has gone wrong this season, despite the total panic attack mets fans are having and despite the vultures in the press...it's only june and they're only 5 games back in the loss column to the phillies with over 90 games to play.
the 4 game sweep in san diego had nothing to do with willie. wagner blew 3 straight games. they are starting to hit and have won 3 of the last 4. pelfrey is pitching much better, delgado and beltran and finally wright are hitting...things seem to be turning around. but then they go ahead and fire willie anyway. i don't get it...total sign of desperation.
but i think the bigger thing is firing peterson b/c that effects all levels of your organization. but with no real farm system, i guess it may not be that big a deal. at least you can always think of him when you see kazmir strike out 10 more batters each game.
