How about Zach Randolph as a Piston?

The New York Knicks power forward fits the profile that Joe Dumars defined as prerequisites for a trade. Randolph is an impact player. He'll definitely fill a void, providing a consistent low-post offensive presence.

But the most intriguing aspect of courting Randolph is that it might not cost the Pistons as much as trying to get Carmelo Anthony or Tracy McGrady.

Randolph, the former Michigan State star, doesn't fit in new Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo offensive philosophy. He also has three years and an outrageous $48 million remaining on his contract, making him even more expendable.

The Pistons should have gone after Randolph last season, when Portland shopped him around, but Dumars was confident that his veteran core had at least one more serious shot at the crown.

The Pistons would be a good spot for Randolph, who's still battling issues with immaturity. He's not a leader.

He remains a follower.

Getting maximum production from him on the court and respectable conduct off the court are incumbent upon placing him on a team with strong positive influences in the locker room, on the coaching staff and in the front office.

I don't see any trade with the Pistons for Zach as viable.

MAYBE Prince/Amir Johnson for Zach?

I read this a couple days ago, but unless we go for one of the Pistons big 4 there's no way this deal can become economically feasible.

I was talking about this the other day. The Pistons need either Curry or Zach. That team doesn't have a post presence outside of Sheed and sheed is more in love with his jumper than his freakish length inside. When Dyess went off against Boston for 20 and 10 for that one game in the playoffs, they looked like a totally different team. Zach can do 20 and 10 every night. With their vets, system and culture....zach can definately fit..........a packedge with draft picks and youth works. Throw Amir Johnson in there and dyess and we have something.

Well thats the only trade that really works cap wise... not saying it's going to happen, just thats really the only one that works since you're definitely not going to get Billups or Hamilton instead of Prince.

I would do a Randolph for Wallace trade in a minute. It is simply addition by substraction. I think the Pistons are tired of Wallace's disappear act anyway. I don't think we need to include Lee or Nate.

Prince is one of the most versatile players on that team.

Rashweed for ZBo works contract wise. Sign me up! Rashweed only has 1 year left in his contract.

A deal like this might involve Antonio McDyess and a newly signed-and-traded Lindsay Hunter (one year deal) to make it work. Plus, you gotta figure DW asks for picks.

Sadly, Dumars is too smart to trade for Randolph, even if it costed him next to nothing.

Do people understand to get rid of Zach we are going to have to give up David or the lottery pick. We are getting nothing in return for Zach he is damaged goods

i don't think anybody would want david AND zach combo...you have to pay david and they play the same position.

if zach is to be moved, imho, it can only be done by using the pick.

It can work if you get a third team involved trading Zach and Lee.

Take for instance Seattle and Chicago are under the cap salaries don't have to match.

Knicks trade Zach, Mardy, and Lee,

Knicks receive Gooden, Marshall or Griffin, 24, 32

Bulls trade Gooden, 39

Bulls Receive Zach, Mardy, 46,

Seattle trades Marshall or Griffin, 24, 32, 46

Seattle Receives Lee, 39

People might feel this is a sell low with Lee but we get pick 24 and 32. Lee himself was a 30th pick, plus we get instant cap relief after the season is over with Gooden and Griffin or Marshall's Expiring's. Personally I'd rather have Griffin to get a TE out of the deal.
