Suns' draft workouts include Houston
The Arizona Republic

With draft workouts starting Wednesday, the Suns saw two college freshmen and a 37-year-old.

Retired guard Allan Houston was not part of the draft workout, but he might be part of the Suns' plans. Houston has been a recent regular for workouts at US Airways Center.

Houston, who retired in 2005 because of knee problems, visited Suns forward and former teammate Grant Hill in April to see what the Suns' acclaimed athletic trainers did for him and others with tough health histories.

Houston considered joining the Suns when he made a brief comeback last October that ended after one preseason game with the New York Knicks. In April, the Suns saw him as a possibility for 2008-09.

Houston averaged 17.3 points per game over 12 seasons.

The draft workout included 6-foot-11 Louisiana State forward Anthony Randolph. He likely is a top-10 pick, indicating that the Suns are considering trading up. The other visitor, 6-9 athletic wing Donte Greene from Syracuse, is pegged in the range close to the Suns' No. 15 slot.

The Suns have weekend workouts scheduled for Texas point guard D.J. Augustin, Florida power forward Marreese Speights and Stanford center Robin Lopez.

I actually think Houston will do ok here with D'Antoni as coach.

Wow, Steve Kerr is taking some big big risks! The Shaq one didn't work. I agree with djsu that the Terry Porter hire if it happens is another risky move and now this? Not the same magnitude but Steve Kerr is not making sound decisions. Allan Houston? He couldn't run and gun when he was healthy. The guy can only jumpshoot.

I guess they can bring him in as a 5 or 6 mins a night guy to make a 3 here and there. But didn't they cut ties with D'Antoni mainly because he does no defense? And didn't someone say Terry Porter is a defensive minded coach? WTF? How does Houston fit that? Fucking crazy.
