They'd have to clear at least 12M in salary... unlikely. I read they're turning their attention to Speedy Claxton. However, they have fifteen days to match. Very bad day for hapless Golden State.

Unless I'm forgetting something, I fail to understand why someone would voluntarily sign with Washington right now.

On the other hand, it could've been the Knicks....

The answer to your question is 60M for six years.... he had two offers, the other being from the Clips. Any questions? lol

That being said, I think Gilbert dropped the ball. He could have signed with the Warriors with an opt out clause and subsequently could have renegotiated once the team cleared cap room. In the meantime, the difference in money would not have been too significant. He's the most popular Warrior and has a nice nucleus around him. I think he made a horrible decision.

ahh, damn. You're right, that DOES clear it up!

Yeah, I think he should've stayed in GS. I'm not sure what the money issue is, but based on your post, GS was the move to make. They're young and moving in the right direction. Washington is more like NY, just happily floating along in mediocrity.

I can see that, if he were with a Detroit or Philly, for example. But when he just signed with a team that is crappy IN THE EAST, how far can he go?

he is young they will rebuild it's easier to get good in the east than in the west. one more move and washington is in the hunt. i mean if a team as bad as the knicks can compete for a playoff spot.....

I'm with you Necrom... the Wizards? Abe pollin treating him "like a son"? Please, he'll regret going there. Then again, he's so good, he'll single handidly make them much better. Glibert one of the true plums in this years free agent pool.

OK, I can see what you both are saying. When I think of Washington I forget to add Arenas to the mix. Now with Arenas and Stackhouse, they have a guard rotation that kicks NY's ass out the water. Yet another team that may be better than NY

I guess if Kwame can finally bring it (what do you think Prod? Think it'll finally happen this year?) they got a decent squad. On the other hand, their bench makes our look like world-beaters!

Agreed, COUP for WIZ.

MJ would have loved Gilbert's game and more importantly... work ethic.

fuc-a-abe pollin

mj made it possible for him to sign players like arenas. and whoever

the franchise was never seen on tv in the 2000's. and were basically an aba team until mj came to town. just last year mj had to play small forward shooting guard and point guard ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

i like the wizards

but fuc-a-abe pollin
