Would Cleveland and Toronto bite on these two deals? I don't know. I'm putting this out there because it demonstrates that in two moves DW can completely rid us of anyone with contracts past '09 and maximize our flexibility for the future. Obviously, I don't think this is unrealistic, but I think reasonable minds can differ. So what do you think of these deals?

Zack, Craw & JJ2 --> CLE
Ben Wallace, Wally & 2009 first round pick --> NYK

Eddy Curry --> TOR
Nesterovic & 2009 first round pick --> NYK

I like the Cleveland deal and I think that it is a reasonable gamble for CLE. I think ZBo and Jamal would help LeBron immensely. They will probably want to make it this 2008 1st round pick than next year since they are picking 19th anyways.

The TOR pick..I don't think Curry would be a good fit with DinoBosch. It would probably stunt Bosch's development it paired with Eddy. He needs a tough defensive minded C.

I think Eddy's destination is still MIA since Riley needs that offensive minded center to make things work. Jabbar, Ewing then Shaq. He is center driven and Eddy is the closest thing right now that is available for him.

I'd take Cleveland's '08 pick in the deal. I don't think that should be a deal breaker.

Good point on the potential Bosh & Curry pairing.

How about:

Curry --> MIA
Mark Blount & MIA '09 first rounder --> NYK

It works and it accomplishes the same goal. No big salaries past '09.

For the MIA trade..I would do an Eddy for Blount, this years 2nd round pick and a future 1st rd pick. Blount has a shorter contract than Eddy.

HAHA!! Yeah, now if only we can get DW, Cleveland's GM and Pat Riley to think alike then we'll be in business...

Ridnour is a BYC player so even though the salaries match, the deal doesn't work.

We do call you crazy... crzymdups.

I definitely feel that the Knicks lose the talent exchange in all these deals and that's the unfortunate reality of trying to get under the cap. Unless something unbelievable happens after these deals, it is likely the Knicks would struggle. That means we'd have another high lottery pick in '09. Plus, we'd be adding a few mid-first rounders here as well (from CLE and MIA). When you put it all together we'd be in position to sign possibly TWO max contract players to go along with two high lottery picks and two mid-first rounders from either this year or next year. That is a quick rebuild.

Knicks '08 lottery pick
Knicks '09 lottery pick
CLE '08 first rounder (19)
MIA '09 first rounder (20-something)
Plus $35M+ in cap room for 2010

Imagine that.

To be honest I really like the Cleveland deal and think it's one of the better deals out there. I think I would rather Redd to go with Lebron because he shoots a high percentage as the one option. Zach really needs the ball to be effective, but with z slowing down I think cleveland with the following is hard to guard

Gibson
Crawford
Lebron
Zach
Varejo

It's amazing just how terrible Cleveland is and they were right there again this year and should have beat the Celts. Crawford would be much more effective as a spot of shooter with Lebron opening things up for him and zach can really score....

I would really hold onto Eddy till the year ends, lets see if Mike can get something out of him and see if we can't up his value, he has the ability to really score in bunches and efficiently. I think with jamal and zach off the team it opens up things for everyone.

Marbury is having a great year, you can mark it down.

So you guys want to give Lebron what he needs to get a NBA title? If Lebron had a guy with Craws skills on the perimeter and Zachs skills in the post they would win it all.

The deal is already dead! Why would Cleveland trade us two expirings after next season and two, for three contracts that don't expire for another three years?

The expirings would help us' but I don't see them going for it. Not unless they are desperate, seeing that they need to win (I believe) to keep LeBron interested. And even so, if they don't' win in the next two years, and he wants to leave? What do they get stuck with? Craw, Zbo and JJ2 for another year and LeBron leaves?

Nice try, eVil (no really, nice try - keep it up) but I don't put too much stock into what we have right now anyway. The expirings are the key to any deal. I say we hang onto to them, for the super right time.
I'll never trust this' team again.

And then, why would Lebron leave the Cavs? Be careful when dealing with the Cavs...

I think CLE is desperate. They need to satisfy LeBron with some scoring options as what they currently have just does not cut it. ZBo and Crawford show LeBron that they are doing everything in their power to give him the talent he needs. Jamal is the perfect compliment for James. He needs that offensive player with ice in his veins that can run with him. ZBo is a gamble but I think the only way Zbo plays nice is if there is an actual lead dog that he cannot argue with as LeBron is just in another stratospere when it comes to basketball.

I think this can happen. It just makes too much sense for both teams.
