So this talent evaluator had Arthur going fifth and Love going in the second half of the first round and Love will be the bust. Yet Love scores, rebounds, and passes better than Arthur. Arthur better be a defensive stopper to justify that pick. Oh, did I mention that he's foul prone?

You gotta love the comparisons some of these sites come up with. I didn't even get past the first page... Brook Lopez resembles Marcus Camby??? On what planet? Different games entirely. If anything, JaVale McGee has a chance to be the next Marcus Camby. Kevin Love resembles David West???? WTF? Granted Love's game is a little harder to define than most (I see a mixture of Luis Scola on the interior/Lina Kleiza's jumper with range/David Lee's intangibles like the passing) but come on man, David West? Completely different players.... Funny....

Ahhh anyway, I do agree somewhat that Brook Lopez can go either way - I can see him being a steady contributor as a starter or a backup center in the NBA eventually. With that uncertainty, I'd be extremely weary about taking him as high as #3 if I were Kevin McHale. Supposedly McHale likes Kevin Love, and although I like him better than Lopez, he's a reach himself at #3.

If the Knicks want to move up (and I hope they do) Curry/#6 to the Wolves for Antoine Walker/#3 continues to make a lot of sense to me for both clubs. The Wolves get the big C they want who's still relatively young and a proven scorer & #6 that they can use for an additional piece without completely reaching like Love, Randolph (Curry, Al Jefferson & Anthony Randolph would be an awesome front line - both of those guys would cover Eddy's weaknesses perfectly). Bottom line is Curry/#6 is better value than Brook Lopez or Kevin Love at #3... And the Knicks shed contract (Walker has a team option after next season so he's gone) and move up in the draft and nab Bayless before Seattle grabs him. Out of the few teams in front of us, we have the worst chance of dealing with Seattle directly and they're definitely taking Bayless at #4. If you guys want Jerryd Bayless like I do this is how you do it.

Fin, I wouldn't have a problem with that move. Bayless isn't ready to become a starting pg, but he's shown enough as a freshman to project that he will get to that point. And when you add his athleticism, outside shooting and the body control that helps him get to the line, Bayless gives good value for that pick.

Regarding Lopez, I think he'll have a decent career, but he doesn't give much value for the third pick. If you define a bust as someone who doesn't make it in the nba, Lopez won't be that guy. But if you define it as an early draft pick that turns into a mediocre player, then that's a strong possibility.

If I trading up to the 3 spot, I'm drafting Mayo. He is clearly the third best player in this draft. I would also ask for Minny's second round pick in that trade.

Drafing Mayo gives us the flexibility trade Craw, who I would try to move for a first round pick (Cleve?).

I don't know if I'd say that Mayo is "clearly" the 3rd best player in the draft (I personally like Bayless better - overall as a player and for the Knicks) but that's just me. I respect your opinion though - OJ is a huge talent, no question about it. I just look at it like this - out of Bayless, OJ Mayo and Eric Gordon, imo Bayless has the best chance to become the lead guard that will ultimately display the most point guard tendencies - the skills we need to succeed Stephon Marbury as our quarterback. And make no mistake - I want Marbury gone. Let him play out the year, hopefully he plays well - I just want his salary off the books by season's end and I wanna see us move on... I see OJ Mayo as a legit 2-guard with the ability to shift over for a few minutes a game here and there but he's clearly a 2 - nice size, scorer's mentality.... And I see Gordon as a pure 2 with basically no point guard skills.

And concerning the current roster, Crawford and Robinson are in the OJ Mayo mold - scorers that can swing over & man the point at times. Even though I think OJ Mayo will be a better player than Craw and Robinson, I don't see the need to add him to the mix with these two similar players already on board especially if I'm moving up to the 3rd slot in the draft. Now I know you suggested the Knicks should deal Craw to Cleveland for filler & their pick at 19 - not bad. I'd do it, you'd do it, would the Cavs? Maybe. They need another scorer to help out LeBron and Craw did go for 20 a game last year. And their salary cap situation is in good enough shape for the next several seasons to take on a guy like Crawford. Or maybe they turn around and say Crawford is low % basketball, no thank you, we can get a better player with our own pick at 19. Regardless, for me to even consider a guy like Mayo Crawford would have to be gone before we even got to the draft and that'll be easier said than done. Adding Mayo to Crawford and Nate Robinson makes for a cluttered mess of a backcourt - it'd be the same old story we've seen here for a while now - "there's talent there, just bad chemistry and roster balance." Myself, I really like Bayless and think he's got what it takes to come in (even if he's got to sit behind Marbury, Crawford and Robinson at first) and be the scorer that he is, yes, but also eventually run the club the way Mike D'Antoni envisions.

This is a great trade suggestion only I would demand a second round pick from Minny and I would be looking to draft Mayo instead of Bayless. I think Mayo is a shorter Brandon Roy type player. A SG who can pass and play defense as well as score 20 points per game. I like Bayless too, but it is questionable whether he can run the point and he is too short to be a full-time SG. I think both will be good players, but I think Mayo is less of a risk as far as getting exactly what you expected. Plus, getting Mayo allows us to trade Crawford.

Nate is to undersized and he is a combo guard. Another thing the Knicks can do is trade Crawford for TJ Ford. This way your back court is set with Mayo and Ford. This would be a very dynamic backcourt which would merit a name just because they have so many initials in their names (intializers).

I have been thinking this over and much as I like Bayless, Mayo is growing on me because of his size 6'5". With Bayless his size is 6'3" and that could pose a problem when Nate is on the court with him not so much if Crawford is on the court with him but Nate's size make having to small a backcourt. That is why I would take Mayo over Bayless. Mayo give more flexibity to the Knicks with his size. Suppose the Knicks want a fast team out there and need shooting you could see Mayo even slide to sf with crawford and Nate in the backcourt with chandelr at pf and Lee at C. The flexbility increase with Mayo a lot more than it would with Bayless.

I don't think he's comparing the two(camby-lopez) in the way they play, I believe he means on how they could impact a game in this case.

This guys explains why these teams would take the player picked and he seems to be pretty on point to me.

Good call on Mayo's versatility. He can give us some spot duty at the point but he is definitely a shooting guard. I guess you can run a Mayo/Craw backcourt for stretches, but I would rather Mayo run the point in this instance because from what I've seen of Mayo, he has much better pg instincts than Craw. Nate/Craw and Mayo could be a leathal offensive backcourt. The missing ingredient is a pure pg who can play a little D.

Uptown - You can ask for the Wolves' 2nd rounder (#31, essential a 1st round pick) but it doesn't mean you're gonna get it. It's gonna be hard enough to convince Kevin McHale to take Eddy Curry - a guy that's still pretty young and a proven scorer at the NBA level, but also a big-time underachiever, pretty much a one-dimensional guy who's game has shown very little progress since he's been in the league. Eddy's always a guy who you're gonna question whether he really wants to be great or not. And he's coming off knee surgery and let's not forget the previous heart condition that's always looming, though, thank God, doesn't really appear to be an issue anymore. See what I mean. Tough sell. We all know exactly what Eddy Curry is. But Minny needs a center. Eddy's still young, 20 ppg/7 rpg/57% fg only 2 seasons ago... It could be done... But I could actually see us having to throw in a future 2nd rounder to get this done. And if we had to, to get the guy I want, I'd do it...

VMart - Basically what it boils down to for me is, A before B. If we got rid of Crawford, something I'd be in favor of if it made sense, then I'd be willing to look at a SG like Mayo or Russell Westbrook. If we retain Crawford, then I want Bayless - he's Mayo's equal in terms of scoring the ball but probably even better at getting to the basket and to the FT line, but smaller and quicker - better suited to be the scorer/facilitator/orchestrator a-la Tony Parker that I think this team will need moving forward post Marbury. I just saw an interview where Bayless acknowledged that he is a scorer but he also added he could see himself becoming a Deron Williams-type eventually. Nice....

If Bayless proves to be unobtainable I might just look to deal down - maybe two seperate packages to move down, one involving pick #6, the other involving David Lee and just look to add talent that way. One guy I'd love to see the Knicks go after would be Sergio Rodriguez. A different player than Bayless, this guy's a pass-first pure PG that's also a capable scorer. He's young, exciting, the Garden would love him and I could see teammates absolutely love playing with him. One of the few young guards around that I think 100% makes his teammates better. A little inexperienced so far, all he needs is PT to show what he can do. Could be a real nice player and a guy I personally like a lot better than TJ Ford as a trade option if we can't get Bayless in this draft.

Speaking of lukewarm impressions, Brook Lopez didn’t do a whole lot to ease the concerns NBA people have about him, not moving all that well up and down the floor and showing a very average skill-level in most of the drills. The same can be said about Anthony Randolph, who showed up with a long undershirt intended to hide just how incredibly skinny he still is at the moment. He looked great dunking the ball in the transition drills and handling the ball fluidly in the open floor, but was completely unable to hit a mid-range or long-range jumper in any of the drills, not even coming up close on many of his attempts.
