The Knicks should pick Augustine at #6. He is an absolute PURE PG and "..in Mike D'Antoni's system he will be great because he makes things so much easier for everybody". Called him the best PG in the draft behind Rose. Put him ahead of Bayless.

-Called Westbrook more of a Combo guard.

Actually Augustin is a better point guard than Rose he just isn't the better player. I had Augustin as the best pure point in the draft.

Some people think he's going to be a worst case scenario Jameer Nelson, others feel he could have a higher ceiling than him. Most of the concerns have to do with his size and athleticism.

I agree with Augustine being the best pure point guard in the draft. I just don't think that his ceiling is as high as Westbrook's.

No I've spoke on his talents before now. While you're tripping over yourself did you forget the thread from a week ago?

I noticed how on Derrick Rose's strengths they don't get too specific as to what he does as a point guard. Basically touching on what his physical individual attributes are. Pretty much a Guard write up and not a point guard write up. Notice the contrast between his and Augustin's strengths as a point guard.

My very first post in the thread immediately honed in and noticed the contrasts between Rose and Augustin. So no I was already acknowledging what Augustin brings to the table before we heard one peep from our organization.

Because he's a better shooter, I'd rank him over Mike Conley who went # 4 last year.

if we signed a player that had proven himself in the NBA and happend to be 5-11 and weighed 170 pounds ok, but I am not drafting one. There is a reason there just arent a lot of lighting quick sub 6 footers on NBA teams. Westbrook is the clear choice for our team if we are looking at PGs. He is the best transition player and he is the best defender. He will generate a lot of offense overplaying passing lanes etc

I would rather just buy a late #1 in a case deal from someone like Sea and pick up Ty Lawson who might be one of the fastest players in the draft. A guy like that would probably be great off the bench for us, even as rookie. Then who knows

Wow Doug Collins like DJ Augistine? I already didn't like him, but that about seals it.

I understand where you're coming from, but I am more scared of drafting another Jamal Crawford clone. We keep duplicating players. I'll give up a few inches to get a player we don't already have in one for or another.

Who is a Crawford clone? I think Gordon and Bayless come closest. Westbrook is anything but.

A 6-3 combo guard who may be able to learn the point and plays best in transition. The only difference is Westbrook can be a lock down defender. Remember Jamal came into the league from Michigan as a PG/combo guard.

Jamal has always been just a scorer through volume shooting. That's not Westbrook. Gordon, Bayless and Mayo have similar games to Crawford. Westbrook is a more complementary player who doesn't need to shoot the ball in order to have an effect on the game. If those other guys aren't shooting the ball, they usually aren't have any impact on the game.

I like Westbrook alot too Isles, I wouldn't take him over Randolph though. I like him more than Bayless though, because of his defense.

yea.. thats why I say no combo guards not named OJ Mayo. If Westbook is a combo guard so be it.

OJ Mayo's #s vs. Westbook
16 points on 4-12 FGs (win) in 40 minutes
4 points on 2-8 FGs (loss) in 40 minutes
15 points on 6-16 FGs (loss) in 38 minutes
totals 12-36 FGs (33%) 11.6 PPG

Bayless #'s vs. Westbrook
10 points on 4-9 FGs (win) in 35 minutes
15 points on 6-12 FGs (loss) in 40 minutes
totals 10-21 FGs (47%) 12.5 PPG

In 5 games against the 2 best scoring guards in the PAC-10 Westbrook's defense speaks for itself

I don't know, Randolph seems to be a pretty big project. Guys like him scare me.
