even if the celts don't win the title...or don't even get to the finals...i think it's big time success.

considering the team has been toiling away for years in the lottery, they now are a deep playoff team for 3 seasons. and that's something many teams who rebuild through the draft never achieve.

values for guys like rondo + perk are now up so they now have tradeable commodities as well.

their building is sold out every night and ownership is making $$$'s.

i think it's mission accomplished - ring or no ring.

I don't think you have to worry about Boston winning the chip this year. If they do make it, Doc will just get outcoached by Phil or Pop.

I agree DJ. I don't get everyone bashing them along the way or now HOPING they lose and suggesting it's an epic failure if they do.

They were in a quagmire for a couple of seasons there - essentially wasting Paul Pierce's prime.

They turn their sudden newfound assets into Ray Allen (who has been pretty bad...imagine if he gets it going next season) and KG (whats to say, hes amazing) - and with 3 unselfish superstars and a mediocre supporting cast they forged a TEAM (a foreign concept to most these days) and won 66 games and are in the ECF with a 3-2 lead.

That's success if I've ever seen it.

What's also of note is that even though the trio is aging - they still have 2 solid years left in all of them barring the unforseen. They could easily add that much needed impact player along the way. I'm actually surprised they made the ECF this year on 66 wins. I thought that would be NEXT season after they added more this summer.

So yeah, major success, with room to improve it as they face 2 SOLID contending years with their core of vets - and - improving youth - and - ability to add a few more pieces along the way.

And when it's done? They'll have cap space, solid youth core that learned from 3 very savvy star veteran players for several seasons.

It went from wondering what the hell Ainge is doing and how he even had a job anymore to - WOW what an offseason.

You taunt me DJ with your words.

ANd still no MARV?

Celts better get it done this year. East is getting better next year and it will never be easier than this year.

It has revived the celtic brand and im sure they are making good money.

Phuch em, I hope they lose.
