I got a chance go check out the movie that HBO made about the 2000 election and of course I became angry all over again. Now looking back 8 years are there any people out there (meaning on this board) that feel that this country is better for having Bush as our President? After 9/11, Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, Recession, high gas that believe this country is better for having that overgrown frat boy as our president. Can anyone point to one truly positive thing that has happened during the Bush Presidency during his Presidency?

I saw it and it didnt make me mad. It did make me wonder how different things would have been with Gore as President but we will never know the answer to that. To be fair 9/11 still would have happened, Katrina, probably would have happened, Recession definitely would happen again since the economy goes in cycles - the only thinks you can question are the Iraq War (granted thats a big one) and high gas - which is a product of the war, increased global demand/consumption, and market speculators driving the price up.

Gore is doing good for the world getting the message out about global warming, that to me is more important than being president.

Ok I think your wrong on just about all of these things.

1. 9/11: The incompetence in which the threats of a possible terrorist attack was dealt with is not something that exists in every administration. So therefor you saying that it would have happened regardless is kind of foolish because Gore or whoever was President could have very well dealt with potential threats in an entirely different manner other then utterly dismissing them.

2. Katrina: obviously no one can prevent a Hurricane but the aftermath was really one of this country's greatest disgraces. So no again I think you are very wrong to assume that no other President could have dealt with the aftermath of a natural disaster. People with nowhere to go, very little access to food/water, very little access to medical care, so if you think a so-called world power cannot handle evacuations and providing basic necessities to its citizens then we really do have a serious problem

3. Recession: Of course there are cycles but a recession especially coming into an economy that was strong is not common place. Our economy's downward spiral was not a random occurrence.
